    Stop and Think

So many people in this forum are asking for fantasy animals, domestic animals etc.

I'm not really here to suggest much but has anyone really looked at the WWF website?

When you go look there it takes you to the Adopt an Animal page.

Just look at them all. There's a few animals there I'm sure people would like in their zoos.

Take the amur leopard for instance. There's less than 40 in the wild, and none in captivity from what it says.

I'm posting this for a few reasons:

    1. Some people might have forgotten what ZT is about. It's a game sure but it's trying to encourage people to care about the world we live in. So many animals have been hunted, endangered, even wiped out from our planet. And chances are we'll never see them again.

    2. We need to get people noticing animals which people might have never heard of that are in even worse condition than Tigers or Panda bears. We're still hurting our enviroment, and we wont stop until it's too late. Slowly as our species grows larger, we're removing more and more habitat for animals. Sooner or later we're going to have no fresh grass to look at exept in local parks and protected lands.

    3. I'm an animal lover, I've never spoken up like this and I think It's time I should. ZT is trying to speak out to everyone telling them we need to stop and think about whats going on. You're all focused about cars, computers, all this technology. I love it too, and if you took it away from me I'd probably take awhile to adjust. Thats what our animals are doing. Trying to adjust. Trying to find homes which we have torn away from them. My local zoo has a tiger poster with all the species of tiger. Last time I went there was a new red cross over a tigers face. Yet again, we've lost another valuable species.

I just want to sugesst we look for those animals which we know little about and keep them alive somehow. Even if it's just a game. At least we knew they existed at least we got the word out that they need help.

Please don't come in here and complain "Oh you're so stupid" or anythign like that, if you got issues with this, go elsewhere and whine.

    Re: Stop and Think

Tigress, I agree. Our species is getting out of hand. There are too many endangered animals out there no one knows about. Heck, after we drive every other animal on the planet extinct and never to be seen again, we're next. We're either going to poison ourselves to death, starve ourselves out of existence, or wait untill the sunb expands and get burnt to a crispy little cinder floating about in space. I think domestic animals in a zoo would fare pretty well as free-roaming, like goats/pigs/chickens. And horses are just cool, and everyone wants them. And if one of you mirosoft guys/gals is reading, think of the moolah you all could make off a mythical pack! But still, Tigress, you're right. Humans are an idiot species. We should've not evolved at all, or at least evolded like Vulcans. . .

    Re: Stop and Think

I'd LOVE a mythical pack myself and being a horse owner I'd love horses. But It's going off the message ZT is trying to say, I wouldn't mind it being an added bonus but I think the message they send should be top priority even over the public demand.

I also agree we'll probably go extinct one way or another. But even if we've made so many mistakes at least some people are trying to fix them. We've just made them a bit more difficult to fix than they were to create. Honestly I blame our desire to take over the planet.

If ZT has money on the brain a mythical XP would fare really really well. Although many have voted against it, who's forcing you to purchase the product? Domestic animals however would probably fare better as bonus downloads.

    Re: Stop and Think

I STRONGLY disagree with you!!! Zoo Tycoon 2 is a videogame and as a videogame its cause is to entertain people. I understand that Zoo Tycoon 2 has a recognisable educational value but it is still a videogame.

And if you are so sure tell me how many goblin sharks have been in captivity? None!

And why is there a killer penguin, a giant monarch butterfly and a giant bullfrog???

These three are imaginary animals.... Even extinct animals have no conservational value for the WWF organization simply because they are extinct.

And don't tell me that extinct animals xp is educational because it will be a lie. The ZT2 encarta for the EA's animals is really poor and why? because of insufficient data

Oh! And as for mythical creatures I think it will be eduactional because it is from myths that we know a lot of historical facts of the past. Who knows they might existed once and we haven't discovered their fossils yet...

I like the idea of domestic animals. I play Wildlife Park 2 because it gives me the opportunity to create my own petting zoo with pot-bellied pigs, ponies, rabbits, rats, hares, goats and other domestic reatures like pelican birds...

The Giant Panda is my favourite endangered animal.

    Re: Stop and Think

    Firstly Panda bear.

    1. I'd love a mythical pack. I'm not going to say I wouldn't. I love their history, I even wish that one day we'll find REAL proof they exist/existed. If you have read ANY of my other posts, I'm all for the domestic animals and mythical packs. I just think make them more like mini DL or mini XPs because it's not ZTs' main focus.

    2. Killer penguin, giant monacrh, giant bull frog were added as fun. I'm not going say this isn't a game. I'm saying that they are focusing on the animals that need our help. I know it's an educational game, but I'm saying, people are over looking the fact ZT was focused on educating people about our wildlife issues in a fun and entertaining way. It works! Just liek the army recruiting people with videogames.

    3. Wildlife park 2 is a diffrent story, diffrent focus, diffrent goals.

    4. Goblin sharks have been attempted to survive in captivity. It's just something thats not working out. Giant squid have been caught as babies and have DIED because we lack the knowlege of keeping them alive. It's the same issue with the whale sharks in atlanta. These animals can live a long life in the wild, but in captivity the aquarium has lost 2 young whale sharks in less than 2 years. Now these things can live over 80, and do YOU personally think, 2 years is long enough in captivity? No, I'd rather live to see 80 than just make it to being 2 years old.

    5. Extinct animals, I'll bet you humans are the main cause for animal extinctions. We have got limited data for many species, you tell me what made us evole to this? You tell me why we have the need to kill off at least one of every species just to know we can kill them. Dinosaurs are a more difficult issue. No one has seen a dinosaur ever. Nessie is still being discussed, she/he might be a dinosaur we do not know. Birds and reptiles are the closest thing we have to them. But hey atleast ZT is trying and not storming around, complaining like a 2 year old warthog. Now Dinosaurs, would probably still be alive if the reason they got wiped out didn't happen (There are too many theories so im not settling on one). They'd look compleately diffrent from what their skeletons tell us because of the years and years they'd have for evolution. WE probably wouldn't even look like this now because our enviroment would be diffrent.

So please. go cry elsewhere, I know you'd love the Domestic animals and mythical animals packs, I would too, so don't go judging my message til you really know what I'm saying here Fluffy.

    Re: Stop and Think

Zoo tycoon is mostly about education and awareness. It's a videogame to have fun, this is true, but it was especially made for people to know and learn about the natural worl around them, and help fund for the WWF.
There is no future but a continueing present. Therefore we cannot time travel

    Re: Stop and Think

yes zootycoon is educational but who says it cant be a normal video game and have some non realistic animals. If you dont want the pack dont buy it simple as that.

P.S No one get md or any thing, but if we 'evolved' why dont monkeys turn into people. Just think.

    Re: Stop and Think

Just to point out that (fictional) Vulcans are the same as Humans, in that they are emotional and capable of violence, aggression, greed, and evil, just as we are. They have not evolved beyond this, but have chosen to surpress their feelings through meditation and by embracing pure logic.

But I understand what you are saying. As a race we really need to grow up and start thinking about other things apart from ourselves. I believe many of us do - the rest of the world just needs to catch up with us.

On extinction. The rate of gradual extinction (caused by natural selection devices such as mutation, environmental change, and interspecies competition) has multiplied to 200 times that of normal levels since modern humans evolved, and it's still speeding up.

    Re: Stop and Think

About the monkeys evolving thing. Genetics is a very complex thing. We have diffrent chromo levels than they do, and we also lived a diffrent way of life. But We all evolved from similar animals. It just depends on how we live.

    Re: Stop and Think

Please remember that we're all here for the same reason- To enjoy ZT and discuss our love for the game and animals in general. Noone would be here if we didn't love animals!

Furthermore, you are being quite hostile and biased in your analytical statement, let's not start stereotyping and start a flame war here, because it doesn't do anyone any good. BUT the way you've replied and stated your opinions is just downright rude.

It's true that there are animals that are in great danger that are not in ZT, but that doesn't mean that we can't have mythical creatures. Also, remember that these are just suggestions, and should be treated as such.

We all want to keep animals alive, we don't want any to be extinct, but ranting on a videogame forum is not the way to do it, especially when insulting peoples well thought out suggestions to a game they know and love. ESPECIALLY a family game, which people as young as 10 play, do you expect them to go out a stop adults from cutting down forests and picketing sawmills to stop animals homes being destroyed?

Just my opinion on the matter.

Everyones overlooking I'd love to have mythical animals for ZT. I made an entire zoo of unicorns in the old ZT.

And I'm just suggesting that we have a few more real zoo animals than mythicals and domestics.

Im sorry if I seem rude I dont try to, I just get very aggressive in Debatings such as this one.

Yeah, it's really easy to make your post into a rant which leads to problems. I do see your point but perhaps wording it better will lead to a less heated reply.

Perhaps you should try making a list of the animals you'd like to see?
