The rabbit turned to see an Arctic Wolf rushing towards it. It turned to flee, but it was too late. The wolf’s paws were already upon it.
But then the rabbit felt the wolf’s grip loosen, and it wiggled away.
Wind looked up to the sky, and forgot about chasing his prey. Something strange was happening. The sky darkened more, and clouds covered the night sky. It’s just a flash storm, Wind thought nervously to himself. He shuddered, and started to pace back to his den. But before he could, a loud roll of thunder boomed out. Wind stopped. No, no…It can’t be… A rumbling voice followed.
“The time has come, Wind!” Wind stared in horror and turned to flee. His memories flashed through his mind. Memories of the same booming voice speaking of a prophecy. No, it can’t be! The prophecy can’t be coming true…………
“Your father sure has been gone a while.” Frost said. Storm looked up from where she lay. “He has,” she replied. “Where do you think he is?”
“I wish I knew, Storm, I wish I knew.” Storm rolled over onto her back, and wiggled her legs playfully in the air. She was cozy in her den with Frost, her mother, but she wondered how cold her father, Wind was. Frost sighed, and a sad look showed in her blue eyes. Storm rolled over and sat upright. Her ears twitched.
“I hear something! I think it’s Dad!” She ran up to where Frost sat by the entrance to their den. A gray-white pelt started to show through the shade of the night. “There he is!” Storm cried joyfully. But slowly Storm and Frost’s excitement turned into dread as they realized he was running towards them at full speed.
“No… No. It can’t be!” Storm’s mother whispered. “Oh, no…”
Storm whipped around to face her mother. “What’s happening?” she shrieked in fear.

But Frost did not pay attention. “Run!” She pushed Storm out of the nest. As they ran, Storm could only hear rumbling and their footsteps.
“Is dad still behind us?” She asked. Frost just shook her head and kept on running. Storm looked back over her shoulder. She could still hear a great booming noise, but there wasn’t anything besides snow and her father’s fur in the distance. “What are we running from?” Storm panted. Frost just kept running.
When Storm could hardly run anymore, Frost suddenly shoved her into a rock cleft, and then jumped in beside her. They both panted heavily for a moment. Once they had caught their breath, Storm asked once more.
“What’s happening?”
“Thunder.” She replied. Storm looked blankly at her.
“Thunder?”
“Yes, Thunder.” Storm remained silent. But she soon spoke,
“What do you mean, Thunder?”
“Prophecy Thunder.” Storm glared at her mother.
“Stop talking in riddles!” She yelled in annoyance. Then she added more quietly, “Start from the beginning!”
“Alright,” Frost said. “I’ll start at the beginning. A long while ago, when I and your father were still young, and you were not born yet, Wind and I liked to go adventuring with our friend Sky. You remember Sky, right? That grey wolf?” Storm nodded. “Well, we went adventuring. So one time, we went far from our dens. All the way past the Dragon Crest Mountains and through the Swift Tunnels.” Frost pointed at each landmark. “We like to think we’ve gone farther than any wolf in the Snow Plains.”
“Did you?” Storm interrupted. Frost giggled.
“I don’t think so, but you never know. So once we went really far. And one night, near the Dragon Crest, we went looking for a den. We had been hunting very late, and it was very dark outside. Then we found this nice, big cave, sheltered by a giant boulder. We slowly walked in, and we found it was brightly illuminated. When we paced closer, we saw a large pool of water, though it was not very deep. Suddenly we felt a wind, and we looked up to see the Great Wolf Star, the brightest star in the sky, shine its light on us through a hole in the cave roof. It reflected perfectly of the water, and it lighted the cavern just right. So we slept there that night.”

Sorry, the chapter isn't fully finished, but I'll post it anyway.
“When I woke up, I saw Wind sitting beside the water. Sky was still asleep. As I walked up to Wind, Sky stirred and sleepily woke up. We walked toward Wind together. When I reached him, I spoke, ‘What are you doing?’ He didn’t answer. He just crouched down to lap up the water. Suddenly, the cave illuminated even more. It took me a moment to realize that the sun was shining directly through the roof. We had slept in way too late! But that didn’t really matter, compared to what happened next.” Frost settled down more comfortably, and continued. “The cave slowly darkened, until it was nearly pitch black. Then it all started to make sense. A storm was coming! Clouds were covering the sun, dark clouds. The storm progressed fast. In a short while, we heard thunder in the distance. We stayed in the cave, knowing that all the prey would be hiding. What seemed like only a few moments later, a flash of lightning flared and thunder crashed out again. But it sounded closer. Before we knew it, another spark of lightning struck the pool, sending blinding light through the cave. One thought swarmed in our minds. This was no ordinary storm! Suddenly, we saw a shadow reflected on the water. Lightning the Ancestor was here! She spoke words we couldn’t understand. They sounded very strange, not like Birdspeak, or even Mousespeak. No, this was a very foreign language. Suddenly, she vanished as another strike of lightning hit the pool. We saw things reflected in the water, things That Were to Come. Scary things, things to be feared.”

“What did you see?” Storm asked fearfully.
“Nothing you need to know.” Frost answered quietly. “So that’s what this is all about. A prophecy from Lightning the Ancestor.” Then Wind unexpectedly jumped into the crevice beside them. Storm shrieked.
“Don’t scare us like that!” Wind didn’t reply, but just spoke is if he didn’t hear her.
“Does this cave go farther into the cliff?”
“I don’t know” Frost shrugged. “We’ll just have to see.” So they crawled deeper into the cavern. It narrowed and squeezed them tighter and tighter, then suddenly opened up into a large, dark cave. The only light shone through the tunnel they had just come through. They had to act on instinct alone. Storm gulped.
“What do we do now?”
“Just wait.” Frost whispered, her voice echoing. Storm shivered.
“It sounds like a spirit cave in here.” she said. Wind chuckled.
“It does, doesn’t it?” he said, his voice echoing as well.
For a while, they just sat. Just sat. After a few minutes, Storm was overwhelmed with boredom. If only she had a leaf to pounce on! But she did feel something, so she pounced on it without a second thought. Then she heard Wind yelp.
“That was my tail!”
“Oops, sorry.” She answered softly. She slowly paced away, still as bored as ever. She decided to explore deeper into the cavern. “Don’t go too far!” her mother called. Storm continued until she heard the rippling of water. A pool! She thought. A pool just like the one her parents found long ago. Curious, she decided to find its source. She knew there had to be a river, because there were no holes in the roof.
