    Dumb AI

Hi, I'm getting a few problem with the AI in game, and am wondering if its normal.

    * Zoo keepers sometimes can't reach an animal or object, even though there's multiple entrances to the paddock.

*Animals can walk through some objects (mostly shelters, animals just enter by walking straight through the wall.)

*Animals can't reach food or water (I have to put the food and water in an open area without any trees or objects nearby, which ruins the look of the enclosure)

*Animals sometimes get stuck and can't move anywhere. (eg crocs get stuck in lakes with rocks at the bottom)

*Animals sometimes don't eat, drink or sleep, they just randomly walk around 'till they die.

*Animals social status sometimes doesn't fill even if there in a group.

Please help, it's getting annoying... (note: If it matters I am running all the expansion packs)

    Re: Dumb AI

this happens all the time, thare there's no way around it. Just make sure that there are sufficient food dishes cause naimals may not be able to access food dishes if some other animals is using them. Try to make sure that the food is not too close to  any other object such as rocks, foliage, fences etc,
As for the animals and other glitches, try restarting the game, that solves some of the problems. If an animl is giving you problems, crate and uncrate it or pick up and drop it beacuse this sometimes resets their actions.. If nothing works, you just have top put them up for adoption./..

yeah and regarding social needs status, some animals like the okapi need to have children to completely satisfy their social needs...

    Re: Dumb AI

Sorry for bringing back to life an old topic, but this one seemed most like my current issue.

I'm not having many problems with the AI of animals or keepers (except in this one exibit, a keeper refuses to fill up the food dish, even if he's right next to it, he will exit the exibit via the jeep entrance and simply run around and around the exibit over and over again, all the time saying 'going to fill up food dish'. There are two entrances to the exibit other than the jeep one...

Anyways, that's not my main problem. My main problem is that my animals seem to be able to escape, without any reason... I can have high concrete walls, and acrylic walls enclosing an entire exibit, and yet I'll find an animal from that exhibit roaming around my zoo at some point. I can't figure out why. I've had to adjust my building methods to fix it (If I have my exhibits at lower elavations, with the walls on top of the 'cliff' the animals don't seem to escape.)

On the same note, my animals may all be in the exhibit, with no holes in the walls whatsoever, and all the gates closed, etc. And some guests will start running around saying that an animal, STILL IN THE EXHIBIT, is chasing them... Not only a single guest either, when it happens, it happens to most of the people around that exhibit. Restarting the game seems to fix that, but it's annoying, since my zoo stars may drop by a full star before I notice that all my guests are being 'chased' by these still contained animals. Again, building the exhibit at a lower elavation seems to fix that problem too, but building like that is so ugly and seems unecessary.

Am I not doing something right, or is this a glitch, which will hopefully get fixed in a future patch?

p.s. I have all expansions and they are all legal versions (no pirated copies).

    Re: Dumb AI

    All i can say is;

Make a valley so all your exibits are below normal level then put the walls around.

And for your second one, this happens a lot. Lots of animals do this. I never found a way around it apart from having small veiwing areas instead of paths right the way round the enclosure. =] hope it helped.

Weeeee just got back on Zoo Tycoon 2! I'm soo great! can some one do me a sig picture? let me know if you can =)
