                                                            Chapter three

                                                         Tunnels a Twist

Angela had shown her parents, and was now wandering the house, trying to find more clues on the Keeper. She had skipped dinner when she saw that her brothers and the maid had prepared Haggis. She went up the stairs to get something, when she saw the note. She picked it up and stuffed it in her pocket. The floor was cold, since it was already dark. She bounded up the stairs and saw the dog. It looked up at her and barked. Radar didn’t seem to sense the way Angela didn’t like her. Angela would be happier if the dog hadn’t been found.

The dog once again faded away, but Angela didn’t notice. She went up the stairs, and into the attic. She turned on a flashlight that she had left when they first found the prints. The boxes where moved, so she peeked down. She stuck her head in, but slipped, sliding down the tunnel. The little dog followed her down and soon caught up. The tunnel walls where cold, and where made of dirt. She shivered. The tunnel was coming to an end, and she fell on the ground. It was creepy, and she heard footsteps. Out of nowhere, a cage fell on her, and the man who had taken the dog down the tunnel appeared.

“Well, well, well, it looks like we have found a noisy kid snooping in our lab. Haven’t we, Smash?” The man said.
”Are you the Keeper?” Angela stuttered.

“No! But when I am caught a glimpse of, everyone says ‘It’s the keeper!’ It’s very annoying. And even if I was, it would be your business. No off with you!” He replied.

Angela fell down a dark hole, and into the living room. That was creepy! That man was lying; he just had to be the Keeper. Who else could be? She crossed him off the list, because he looked serious, and not like he was lying at all. Who was Smash? The little dog? Who could say? But she knew that dog wasn’t the Keeper-or was it?

She drew the dog in her notebook next to the dog she saw that night. But the dog she saw the other night was black, the complete opposite of white. So they weren’t the same dog. She had to find that dog, and look at the collar. That could have something to do with it. But instead of her finding the dog, the dog found her! It flew from the wall behind her, and landed on her head.
”Get off me! Ugly, Stinky Mutt!” She snapped, pulling the dog off by its collar. The collar came off, and the dog lunged for it.
The dog put its front paws on the bed and barked like mad. The collar had strange stones on it, and the biggest caught Angela’s eye. It was lime green, but when put to the light it was light blue. What Angela didn’t notice was the cast of images on the wall the gemstone was giving off. They each had some code word on them. But all the images were in a blur, so only color splotches could be seen. Angela had to catch that thing that had faded the other night. It had to be the Keeper, animal or not.

Angela crept out after everyone was a asleep. She heard that tapping of claws upon the kitchen floor. It was in there! She snuck up upon it, but when she got closer, it was no dog. Not a dog at all. The longest fangs Angela had ever seen told that. It didn’t notice her-thank goodness- but the steak that was for tomorrows dinner was history. It had disappeared in the creature’s stomach.

“Oh well, I don’t like steak to much anyways” She sighed.

Beside the dog, it just had to be one, stood Radar. She ate away at a bone, which seemed to be remains of a rib.

The dog turned its head back. Its face was almost all black. It howled, and it seemed to be a sad one. Angela turned around, and saw a horrible sight. A limp, dead body of a brown dog lay on the ground. Blood stained places on its fur. Right next to it laid a track. It had come from a shoe, not the size of anyone she knew. How did the figure get out?
It was a male dog, and soon the two other dogs came over. They whimpered and licked the body’s face. Why where they so sad? Angela then realized who this dog was. It was none other than the dog who faded away the other night.

The clock struck six, and the man arrived. Angela hid behind the sofa and watched. He picked up the dog. He walked into a passage, taking the two other dogs with him. Angela stepped out. That was creepy!
