    Re: The Dream Catcher

    Chapter 9

Monday morning was hot and sticky, the sun had already rose high into the sky and not a single leaf stirred in the morning stillness.  Crystal got up, brushed her teeth and went down for breakfast.  She grabbed a blueberry muffin but as she was about to stuff it in her mouth she realized that something was missing.  Amber, Barker, and Sprint, all three of them were gone and on the corner of the table was a note with her name on it.  Crystal seized the note and opened it, to her horror it read:

Crystal, that’s right I know who you are, and I know your secret too.  I have taken your friends and if you ever want to see them alive again, you will have to run some errands for me. Meet me today in the centre of the southwestern forest; come alone or your friends are gone. Oh and by the way, I also have someone else here who you have been looking for.  So that makes four animals that you will let down if you don’t come as soon as possible.

Crystal quickly stuffed the muffin in her mouth, hardly bothering to chew the food before she swallowed.  She grabbed a glass of cool water and chugged it down.  She dressed into her jeans and a cool white t-shirt, then quickly ran outside, hopped on her bike and started pedaling to the forest.  When she got to the edge of the forest, she leaped off of her bike and started running into the forest. “Who is the fourth animal” Crystal wondered to herself “perhaps it is Sprint’s friend, that horse that was named Morning Star, she had been looking for him recently.”

The tree branches bent over menacingly, grabbing at Crystal’s t-shirt.  She was finding it increasingly hard to keep up her speed, her legs ached and the dense underbrush seemed to be pulling her back.  At first, weak rays of light were penetrating through the broad leaves of the trees, but as she ran further into the forest, all light was blocked by the bulky leaves.  It took her eyes a minute to adjust to the darkness and she stopped to look around.  She withdrew the note from her pocket and read it over again, this is where she was supposed to meet the person, but there was no-one here.  Crystal saw a disturbance in the leaves, her heart raced from complete fear but she moved towards it, hoping to find her friends.  Crystal paused; a strange, glowing tiger strutted back and forth.  Amber, Barker, Sprint and another horse (probably Morning Star) were tied to a tree by a chain that flamed like the tiger’s fur.  The tiger raised its head, then, in a wisp of flaming smoke, the tiger took the form of a witch-looking girl.

“Ah, Crystal, you’re finally here. Now first thing first, do you know who I am Crystal?”

“No! Now return my friends, I never did anything to you so let my friends go”

“That is where you are wrong, the second that you accepted the forgotten powers, you became my enemy.”

“Who are you?” Crystal asked, afraid of who or what this thing was.

“Who I am is not important” the girl hissed back at Crystal “the only thing that matters is that we are enemies, and if you want your friends to live, then you will do as I say”

Crystal gulped, then uneasily said “What is it that you want me to do?”

“Alright, to prove that you will obey my commands” The girl cut off, chanted a few strange words and the flaming chain around Barker’s neck came loose and an invisible hand pulled Barker in front of Crystal.  Then the girl continued “To prove that you will obey my commands, you have to kill your friend. she said, pointing to Barker

    Re: The Dream Catcher

    Chapter 10

All color drained from Crystal’s face, but then she felt her face getting hot from anger

“Who do you think I am?” she screamed at the strange girl “I could never kill my friends!” Then, Crystal transformed into a lion and charged towards the girl.  The Girl transformed into a bird and flew onto a tree branch “Whoops” she said “Wrong choice” the Girl sneered at Crystal as she transformed back into a human.  She once more offered Crystal to kill Barker, but Crystal refused again.

“Fine, have it your way, it’s not my friends that are going to die” the Girl said cruelly “I’ll give you until the count of three to reconsider, and once I have counted to three, you friends start dieing.”

“No! You can’t kill them, I’ll do anything else for you, except that” Crystal begged the Witch

The Witch just looked at her then started counting “One…”

“Just do it Crystal! It’s alright, either I die, or all of us die, just do it” Barker pleaded

    “I can’t Barker”

“Two… Last Chance, don’t blow it”

Crystal charged at the Witch again, but she had more power than Crystal and she dissolved into nothing as Crystal neared her, then she re-formed behind Crystal

“Three… too bad” she snickered as she disappeared into thin air, followed by three of the animals.  And Crystal stared, dismayed as she watched Barker drop dead by the magic of the evil witch.

“Wait, no, please don’t take them” Crystal called into the silence as she frantically searched through the thick underbrush for her lost friends.  Crystal was hopeless, she came and sat down beside Barker’s dead body, tears rolling down her cheeks onto Barker’s still-warm fur.  Then, overcome by sobs, she ran back through the trees to the place where she had carelessly thrown her bike in hopes of saving her friends.  Crystal pedaled quickly back home and she ran straight to her room.  “I let them down” Crystal angrily thought to herself “it’s because of me that they are gone, it’s my fault.  I should have listened to Barker.” Then, Crystal got up off her bed, nearly blinded by her flowing tears and she tore the Dream Catcher off the nail that it hung on and hatefully yelled at it “This is your fault; I would still have my friends right now if I didn’t get these powers, I don’t want them, take them back.”

As soon as the words were out of Crystal’s mouth, she started to feel dizzy and lost and her room started spinning around her.  Then she fainted on the rug, the voice in her dream was back “Crystal, all hope is not lost, Dark Night, The Tiger of Evil, may have more power than you, but you have a stronger will.  You can still save your friends as I, Bright Morning, sister to The Tiger of Evil, have seen that the rest of them are still alive.”

“But where can I find them?” They just disappeared from right in front of me.”

“In the night sky, you will see a red star, the Star of Evil, that is opposite of where the Sun rises and sets.  You must follow it until you reach the Dark Night Fountain, where you must transform into a tiger, then once you have, walk into the fountain.  You will know what to do from there, Good Luck.

    “But what about Barker?”

“Barker can still be saved as well, I will instruct you on it later, but first you must rescue the ones that are still alive” the voice said.

Then Crystal watched as the darkness in her dream, which always appeared when the voice spoke to her started condensing into a bright orb in the centre.  After that, it took the form of a glowing, white lioness.  “Go!” she roared at Crystal.

    Re: The Dream Catcher

    Chapter 11

Crystal woke up with a start, only to find herself lying on a hospital bed, being examined by a doctor.  Elizabeth looked pale, as though all life had been drained from her face and she sat, tightly gripping Crystal’s hand.

“Will, she be okay?” Elizabeth was asking the Doctor again and again, apparently neither of them had realized that she was awake.

Crystal spoke up “What am I doing in here?” she asked, puzzled

Both Elizabeth and the Doctors turned to look at her and the Doctor, Dr. Marian started questioning her right away.  “How do you feel, Crystal?”

“I feel fine” Crystal answered, quite irritated.  Suddenly Elizabeth tightly wrapped her hands around Crystal’s neck,

“Crystal, I was so worried about you when I found you unconscious in your room, I came to pick you up for your counseling appointment and—”

Dr. Marian cut her off “madam” he said, “I need to examine your daughter so that I can figure out why she passed out okay, now please move aside so that I can continue with my duties.”

By night-time, Dr. Marian had determined that Crystal was in perfect health, the reason for her passing out was unknown, but she was allowed to return home.  They had called the taxi because Elizabeth had come with Crystal inside the ambulance and didn’t have the car.  Once home, Crystal asked Elizabeth to go to sleep early, and Elizabeth hadn’t questioned her about why she wanted to go to sleep so soon.  She had just nodded her head in acknowledgement and busied herself in washing dishes.  As soon as Crystal was in her room, she quickly transformed into a mouse, so that she could leave the house without being noticed; she ran down the stairs and squeezed out from under the door. ‘In the night sky, you will see a red star, the Star of Evil, that is opposite of where the Sun rises and sets’ Crystal was confused, how can something be opposite of where the Sun rises and sets?  But Crystal looked around anyway and after a while of looking, Crystal spotted a red star that was the color of glowing red embers.  She rapidly scurried towards it, transforming into a horse so that she could run towards it faster.  Anybody would find it suspicious to see an animal running around and Crystal didn’t want to be stopped by anyone or anything.

Her breathing was getting hard and she was having trouble keeping up her speed “God, I hope that I get to the fountain soon” she said expectantly.  Crystal was tired, she couldn’t go on any longer and she found a patch of trees where she hid for the night.  As soon as she had stopped, she realized that she hadn’t eaten anything except for one muffin for the entire day.  Crystal looked down ‘horses eat grass’ she thought to herself, but the thought of eating grass was disgusting to her.  She stood there, staring at the grass, then, unwilling she bit into a mouthful of grass.  It tasted better than she had expected, in fact, it tasted great! And that night, Crystal feasted on fresh grass and raspberries from a nearby bush.  Crystal sleepily lay down in the grass, looking up at the dark, star filled night.

Crystal woke before dawn feeling energized and happy.  Then, she realized that she didn’t know where to go, she had followed the star, but it wasn’t visible during the day.  Crystal sighed, the entire day she would be stuck here, and she wouldn’t be able to get to her friends.  After eating a breakfast of moist, morning grass Crystal turned into a mouse and went to sleep so that people that happened to pass by wouldn’t see her.  By night time, she got up, turned back into a horse and ran, as fast as she could, never once taking her mind off of her friends and the witch, Dark Night.

    Re: The Dream Catcher

    Chapter 12

After several nights of running, Crystal finally came to a fountain, the glowed the same color as the Star.  Crystal watched as an unsuspecting bird came and landed in the fountain.  As soon as its feet touched the fountain, its cheery sing song stopped, it was dead.  Crystal gulped, then, looking around to make sure that no-one was looking; she transformed into a tiger and uneasily took a step into the fountain.  The liquid was colder than ice and as soon as Crystal was in, the liquid took her breath away and she gasped to regain her breath.  Crystal desperately wanted to bolt straight out of the fountain, but she had to continue.

She heard the voice “Don’t give up Crystal” it urged her.  Crystal took a deep breath, her paws numb from the freezing cold and she ran through the fountain.  From outside, the fountain looked small, but once inside, I was a long, frozen corridor to the Star of Evil.  Crystal’s heart bounded, over-worked, trying to keep the blood flowing through her body without freezing.  Suddenly, the glacial liquid was no longer on top of her; instead, it streamed down the sides of a large cave.  In the centre was a circular portal which also glowed the same and Crystal took a deep breath and jumped through.

Crystal looked around; she was on a planet that had the resemblance of Mars, everything was red, except the only difference was that it was burning hot.  The large red sun made the cracked red ground simmer and burn.  Crystal started running again; first, she was freezing cold in the tunnel, now it was burning hot, “this must be what hell is like” Crystal thought to herself.  Suddenly the ground beneath her feet began to quake and crack and Crystal stopped.

“I see that you have found my home have you” the burning red tiger said angrily

“Yes, very good, you figured it out, now return the rest of my friends” Crystal retorted.

“Ah, I’m guessing that my sister told you that, she was a traitor you know, and now you are too” Dark Night hissed

“You are the traitor” Crystal hissed back as she lunged towards Dark Night.  Dark Night rolled out of her way “You are no different than my sister” Dark Night hatefully spat at Crystal.  Then, Sprint appeared in front of Dark Night and She placed her gigantic paw over his neck, her sharp claws protruding out of her paw.  “You will be responsible for his death too if you do not stand down.”  Crystal stopped and looked helplessly at Sprint “you see, I know your weaknesses Crystal.”  There was a pause, then Dark Night continued “I have always been a cat to go by my word.  I will make you a deal.  I will release your friends, all of them back to your planet, if I can kill you.  Think carefully, I never break promises.”

Crystal stared at her, un-able to blink her eye, after that she courageously said “I will only agree to your deal if you release my friends first”

“If I were to do that, then what is stopping you from running away from me” Dark Night smirked back.

Crystal took a deep breath, then bravely agreed to the offer “Fine!” she said, trying to sound more confident than she actually was.

“Good Choice” Dark Night said impishly as she removed her paw from Sprint’s neck.  She waved her foot in a gesture of some sort and Morning Star and Amber appeared beside Sprint.  Dark Night strutted towards Crystal.

“Don’t do this Crystal, don’t let her kill you” Amber pleaded; the other two nodded their heads in agreement.  Crystal miserably looked at her friends; hopefully Dark Night would release them after she was dead.  Dark Night neared, grinning gleefully; and Crystal closed her eyes, she was terribly frightened by the circumstances.

    Re: The Dream Catcher

okay, sorry it took so long for me to post again, our internet hasn't been working properly lately, well, new chapter now

    Chapter 13

Crystal lowered her head, trying to hide her fear, but one tear rolled off her cheek and simmered on the ground.  “Oh, you really don’t need to be afraid, I’ll make this quick and easy” Crystal raised her head and looked at Dark Night straight in the eye, hoping for any signs of affection, but she saw none.  Dark Night opened her mouth and clasped it around Crystal’s neck, and delivered the lethal bite.  Crystal cried out in pain, then, lifelessly fell down on the sizzling ground.  The three animals stared in horror, not minding the burning hot temperatures under their feet.  The sky filled with thunderclouds, and a rain storm cooled the burning ground, lightning roared in the skies above.  Dark Night looked up, turned to look at the three animals and she whispered a few words.  The three animals appeared back on Earth.  Crystal was dead and so was Barker.  Sprint and Amber had lost two of their good friends, but at least they had made a new one too.

“Crystal is dead” Amber said, tears threatening to overflow

“So is Barker, and I would be dead too if Crystal hadn’t sacrificed her own life” Sprint added in, just as sorrowfully.  Amber looked up at Morning Star, trying not to cry “if you had known them better, then you would have known how wonderful they were.”  This time, the tears spilled over and Amber did not make any effort to stop them. Sprint sorrowfully joined her, and although Morning Star didn’t know them well, he was upset too; he would have been dead if it weren’t for them.  They started the journey home, not one of them uttered a word, afraid that if they did, the tears would over-flow again and they could not show the humans that they could cry.  Amber had only been this sad once before and that was when her family had been killed.  A soft wind had picked up and it blew dark thunder clouds over the sky.  Soon after that rain began to splatter on the ground, then it grew harder and thunder shook the ground.  Amber usually hated getting wet, but right now she didn’t care, suddenly, she realized something “did you realize that ever since Crystal died it started raining?” she asked Sprint and Morning Star.  “Yeah, but that doesn’t change the fact that she is dead” Sprint said without bothering to look up.  Sprint was right, Crystal was gone, and she couldn’t come back.

    Re: The Dream Catcher

    Chapter 14

After Dark Night had sent away the other animals, she stood in the rain, then looked up into the skies.  “I’m sorry” she called to the clouds, where her dead mother’s spirit lived.  The ground shook angrily “Dark Night, first you killed your sister, now you have killed the girl who she chose to gave her powers too”

“Yes, it was necessary Sky, I had too, I’m sorry mother”

“Just because your sister loved the animals, you killed her” Sky roared down at Dark Night.  “You and your Father always want to kill the animals and cause them suffering, why, we are animals too.”

“Yes, but we are better than Them and she betrayed Father” Dark Night defended herself “I had too, and Bright Morning wasn’t our family, she was a lion that you adopted and shared your powers with.”

Thunder rattled the ground again, then a golden stream of lightning fell towards Crystal’s dead body, breathing life into her.  All of a sudden, her eyes fluttered open, her coat glowing the color of sunlight.  Dark Night stared, “Mother, no, please forgive me” Dark Night said, cowering low to the ground.  The glowing, light tiger stood up, then sprang through the air towards Dark Night, pinning her to the ground.  “You betrayed us” Sky hissed at Dark Night, her voice sounding like several were talking instead of one.  Sky lifted her golden paw, ready to strike and take away the life of her betraying daughter.  Another tiger appeared from no-where, his coat glowing the same as Dark Night and he pushed Sky off of his daughter.  “Stay away from her, Sky, don’t you dare touch her” the Tiger growled angrily at his long ago mate.  Dark Night got up and ran towards her father like a little pup “Daddy, thank god you’re here, she was going to kill me” she quickly ran behind him, and hid from her mother.  “Give her back to me” Sky hissed

“Never” he argued, lurching towards Sky to take care of her once and for all.  Sky had many powers, but Karax, her former mate, was stronger and had more power.  Sky knew that if she stayed, her life would end too, and all of the good in the world would end with her.  She took the hint and exited her host, which was Crystal’s dead body and she went back to her home on the Skies, were she couldn’t be harmed.  But she had given life back to Crystal as well, it was one of her powers to give life back to the dead and she hoped that one day, Crystal would be able to stop Dark Night and Karax.

Once Sky was gone, Dark Night and Karax walked away together, un-aware of the fact that that Crystal was alive again.  Crystal coughed; her neck ached; “what just happened?” she asked herself.  Crystal opened her eyes, unsure of what she would see, as far as she knew, she was dead.  Crystal rolled onto her feet “Am I dead?” she questioned herself.  Then she looked at herself, her coat was covered with dust, but she looked perfectly alive.  Suddenly, she remembered Amber, Sprint and Morning Star.  Neither of them were anywhere to be seen and Crystal got up “Amber, Sprint” she called to the seemingly deserted planet.

Dark Night stopped dead in her tracks, pricking her ears “did you here that Daddy, it’s sounds like Crystal, but she was dead, I killed her”  Karax looked at Dark Night, “we must find a way to get rid of your mother, she must have brought her back to life.  Come on; let’s go make sure that Crystal is dead.” Karax said as he turned around to go back.  Dark Night grinned broadly, “ok Daddy, let’s go” she exclaimed as she too turned and started running in the direction that they had just come from moment’s later.

Crystal started running, hoping to some way to get off of this dreaded planet.  Crystal was just about to find the portal back to Earth when, out of nothing, Dark Night appeared in front of her.

“Going somewhere” she asked her pitilessly.  Karax snickered at Crystal’s misfortune “What, did you think that we would let our enemy go just like that?” he asked her in a heartless, cruel tone.

    Re: The Dream Catcher

okay, well, sorry if this becomes a double post, but i posted chapter 15 a really long time ago, and it's still not here, so i will just post it again.  Again, sorry if this becomes a double postSmile [:)]

    Chapter 15

Now, Crystal was sure that her friends had been released, because they weren’t anywhere in sight, and so, Crystal would fight her enemies.  “What do you want?” she hissed at the two.

Karax sneered, “What do you think we want?”

Dark Night finished off his sentence “we want your life” she proudly explained.  Karax looked at his daughter lovingly “exactly” he purred at her, then, lunged at Crystal.  Crystal was caught by surprise and Karax pinned her down, Crystal tried to run, break free from his death grip but he was too strong for her.  Tears began to flow down Crystal’s face “Please, spare my life” she hopelessly begged.  Karax laughed bitterly “if I spared my enemies, then I would have been dead by now.”  Crystal tried to change form, into something smaller so that she could squeeze out, but on this planet it was impossible.  “I’m not your enemy” Crystal defended herself, “I never did anything to harm you”

Karax’s eyes were merciless and he pressed he massive paw heavily against Crystal’s neck, depriving her of her breath.  Crystal desperately tried to free herself, flailing her legs without success.  Crystal fainted because she was low on oxygen, then, quite un-expectantly Karax lifted his paw and turned to Dark Night.  “If Sky brought her back to life once, then there is no reason to kill her again, for all we know, she will bring her back again.  Let’s just take her to the prison, until we know of a way that we can kill her, without Sky being able to bring her back to life, or kill Sky, and then kill Crystal.”

Dark Night nodded her head in silent agreement, then, roared to her slaves.  As quickly as she had called for them, three lionesses showed up, the first one grabbed the ruff of fur behind Crystal’s neck. And the other two gently slipped their heads under her arms and carried her on their shoulders.  One of the lionesses complained in a hushed voice so that she wouldn’t be heard by Dark Night or Karax “why do we always have to be the ones to do the hard work?”

Anita, the lioness that was dragging Crystal from the fur around her neck dropped Crystal, “Karina, it is not wise for you to speak ill of the Master; you know what they can do to you.”  Then she quickly seized the fur again and continued pulling.  “Poor girl” Phene, the third lioness said as she continued lugging Crystal to the Prison.

Crystal stirred uneasily; once again, she was amazed to find herself alive.  Crystal opened her eyes; she was tired from her struggles with Karax.  She was surprised to find herself in a dark dungeon behind crude iron bars; the floor was made of rough, jagged stone.  Dark Nigh appeared on the other side of the bars and a startled yelp escaped from Crystal’s throat.  But anger soon overcame her fear and soon, her anger had grown until it was uncontrollable.  Crystal ran to the iron bars and grabbed them with her teeth “Release me. NOW.” She ordered Dark Night.  Dark Night stared at Crystal biting the iron bars “You know the iron is enforced with magic to prevent exactly that from happening” she explained, pointing her paw in the direction of Crystal “if it wasn’t, I would have prisoners running free.”

Crystal let go of the bars, hate and anger burning in her eyes “What do you want, why not just kill me now” she growled hatefully.  Dark Night sighed, then shrugged her powerful shoulders and walked away.  Crystal intently watched her leave, then the hate melted into tears, for once, she regretted coming to save her friends; but she knew that this is what she had to do.

    Re: The Dream Catcher

Thank you, everyone for your support, now, another chapterSmile [:)]

    Chapter 16

The glowing lioness in her dream was back again “I’m sorry I got you into this Crystal” Bright Morning apologized.  “I’m sorry I can’t help you, but maybe, Sky, my mother can.  First you must somehow escape the Prison though, it would be too unsafe for her to come inside.”

Crystal found herself angrily screaming at Bright Morning “If it weren’t for you giving me those powers, then none of this would have ever happened.  I would still have my friends, Barker would still be alive and I wouldn’t be here right now.”

Crystal felt horribly angry at Bright Morning for ruining her life, but then, Crystal started feeling guilty after she realized the Bright Morning was crying because of her harsh words.  “I said I was sorry” she whispered quietly; and that was the end of Crystal’s dream.

A lioness strolled outside Crystal’s cage “psstt” she whispered.  Anita’s keen hearing picked up the sound right away and she turned to look at Crystal.  “Hey, what are you doing here?” Crystal asked her.

“I’m a slave here” Anita answered plainly “Dark Night and Karax keep lionesses as slaves because Bright Morning, Sky’s adopted daughter was a white lioness.  And Dark Night hates Bright Morning, so she hates us lionesses too.”

Crystal felt sorry for her “Well, could you let me out please, or tell me how to escape?”

Anita’s eyes widened in horror, “do you know what Dark Night would do to me if I were to do that.  I would love to help, but I just can’t.  I’m sorry.”  Then Anita ran, as though she hadn’t just had that conversation and disappeared behind a cracked corner.  Soon after that, Karina, another lioness appeared in front of Crystal’s cage carrying some fresh meat in her mouth.  She threw the dead carcass inside from between the bars, then sat down in front of Crystal as she greedily wolfed down the meat.  When she was a human, she couldn’t have ever imagined eating raw meat, but as a tiger, she didn’t care.  “Anita told me about your request, Crystal” the lioness, Karina told her “but we can’t help you.  If we were to help you, then Dark Night and her father would surely punish us, and the punishment would be great.”

The sound of footsteps filled the corridors and Karina stood up to leave “Wait” Crystal called after her.  But it was no use, all of the lionesses were too afraid of Dark Night and Karax, and Crystal had to admit, she was afraid of them too.   Karax’s heavy paws thudded against the stone floor “Let’s go” he grumbled at her, opening the large heavy gate.  At first Crystal shrunk into a corner, but Karax wasn’t about to let her do what she wanted.  Karax lunged at her, and raised his oversized paw and scratched Crystal across the face causing her to get up and get out of the cage.  Blood leaked from the large gash across Crystal’s face and it hurt terribly.  “If that’s what it takes to get you moving, then it’s my pleasure” Karax said evilly.  Crystal glared at him, her vision blurred by tears of pain, and then she padded behind Karax to wherever he was taking her.  A thought struck Crystal, she was behind him, the path to his neck was clear and if Crystal succeeded, she might be able to escape.  Crystal gathered the strength in her back legs, then sprang through the air landing on Karax’s back.  He was caught by surprise and before he could react to the situation, Crystal had gotten a tight grip around his neck.  Crystal could taste his salty blood and suddenly, a large chute of blood released into Crystal’s mouth as her teeth pierced his crucial vein.  All that was heard from him was a roar of anger and pain that continued to echo through the hallways.  Crystal loosened her grip on his neck and leaped off of his back, she felt horrible, she had just killed a living animal, but Crystal knew that it was essential for her own survival.  Karina appeared from behind a corner and Crystal jumped back in surprise “You killed the Master” she fearfully pointed out “You must run, quickly, before Dark Night has a chance to find out.  Come, I will show you the way out, but promise me that you will take me with you when you leave.
