It means animals that are most likely real, but could not be-or an animal that is probly realy, but people don't know how it looks (example:Nessie could be a plesiosaru or long-necked seal).

Ueah, cool! But, one looks like a torchured ferret...

Cryptids are animals some people believe in, yet can't prove tosome people*Pretends to be upset with other members* that they are real. And some are. I mean, turkeys weren't discovered until people came from England to America. (Well, the indians knew about it, but thats not the point)

A cryptid is a creature that is unknown by science, and has a 50/50 chance of being real. I.e; former cryptids were okapi, coelacanth,  platypus, and I believe the moa was a cryptid at some point in time.
