    Age of War

Hi! This is my new story-Richeet's story never really made it. ( Richeet glares at her ) Geez, sorry ! You'll be in another story. But thanks for the replies, AKwoof!

P.S, The setting is alot like my Yafi ;)

    Prologue

In a place far away from ours, Two families struggle to stay in peace, their territories  devided only by the opening of the canyon. For some seasons, a peace has been held. But soon, it could all end by a mysterious force, unkown by both the Lightning pride and the Clan of Light Shadows. Only two brave, adventureous heroes can save the lives of the feuding families.

    Cahapter 1

Kayalla gave an annoyed huff. She just couldn't do it correctly, no matter how many times she tried. Stupid trees! She thought to herself. " C'mon, Kayalla! " Her brother, Scaviar, hollared from a branch in the tree. " What, are you scared?" " No I am not !" Kayalla cried back. Okay, she was a bit scared-she never climbed a tree that high. And it even wasn't a tall tree at all, since it only grew a few feet high. " Zues'hiro! Quick! I scented shadow-walkers on our side of the border !" A young lion came bolting into the camp tawards their king's den. Soon Zeus'hiro, the king, rushed out, along with the alpha she-cat , Xira. The young lion told them where he found the scent, and they and more sun-cats headed out of the camp. " Shadow-walkers? On our territory ? Cool! I want to go! " Scaviar exclaimed exitedly, before his and Kayalla's mother came out and led them back to the den. You're not going anywhere ." She said.

I'll continue more of this chapter soon.

    Re: Age of War

    Thanks!

I would do the hole speech thing, but when I do enter, the line goes down farther than it should. But i'll try.

    Chapter 1 ( continued )

Kanoa was completly an utterly bored. Hey, sitting around on the scrubby ground, having to watch over some whelps while they rolled around and played isn't exactly as fun as suprizing and scaring geckos and watching them scurry around in fright ( which was actualy quite comical ). But unfortunatly, there were no geckos out today-too hot.                                                                There was barely anyone in camp today anyway, exept for her, a couple of snozzing elders, some low-ranking males ( they couldn't watch over the whelps because they were cleening up the camp and two of them were being scouts at the camp entrance), the whelps, and the whelp-mothers ( who were too tired to watch after them ). The rest of the low-rankers were checking the far borders. The high-rankers, including the leaders, were out checking the canyon entrance ( the entrance to their territory ) because a scout reported seeing a large number of sun-cats on the shadow-walker's side of the border. All of the other younglings were out, being taught by the middle-rankers how to hunt. All exept Kanoa. She let out a big sigh. A forty-two strong shadow-walker clan, and nobody to play with.                                                                                                                                            Just as Kanoa was wish that she would rather be warthog bate, a low-ranker, Zivvee, padded up to her. He was her friend and always knew how to cheer her up. " Hey, you look bored. " he said. "Well, yeah! " Kanoa replied. " Anyone would be bored if the only thing that whelps wanted to do was play no-hit tag."( no-hit tag is a whelp game where you can't hit or nip when tagging someone.) "Well, I'm done with my chores, and some of the mothers are waking up now. Just wondering-wanna go to the canyon entrance?" Zivvee explained, a wry look in his eyes. Kanoa didn't understand-Zivvee knew they weren't aloud to go, with sun-cats prowling around there, and they both knew that Zivvee wasn't stealthy, sly, or mis-behaving. He was also sort of a cluzts.                                     After Kanoa reminded him of this, he replied, " But why not-we both have nothing to do, and I'll try to be as smooth as I possibly can.  Besides-I always kinda wanted to witness a battle, if there is one." Kanoa, willing to do anything to get out of camp, agreed to go with him. This will be so much fun- I always wanted to see a fight! she thought as they left thw whelps with their rereshed mothers and headed out.

Okay! That's the end of Chapter one. But before I end this, I want to give some terminology.

    Plain-creature:any animal on the plains.

Plains: Any large, open area with barely any trees. Can be scrub, savanna, desert.

    Sun-cat: creature speak for lion.

Shadow-walkers: creature speack for hyena ( usualy term only for brown or spotted hyena ).

warthog bate: plain-creature word  used for dead meat, since warthogs can be very violent.

Burrow-dweller: creature speak for meercats and yellow mongooses.

Dogs: creature speak for african hunting dogs ( although it is said that dogs left many, many moons ago-even the oldest elders say they never scented nor saw them. )

The dark times : the dark times were a time of endless war.

Star-reader: creature speak for shamen, guru, wizard, or witch.

Thanks 4 reading! enjoy this chapter!

    Re: Age of War

    Geez! I keep forgeting vocabs.

Youngling-creature speak for anyone who's old enough not to be a calf or whelp or cub, but not old enough to be an adult.

Before I can continue the story, I have to be inspired! ( She sits and waits to be inspired )

Good story so far.  Did you read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?  I couldn't help but notice that it was a forty-two strong shadow-walker clan. Smile [:)]

Thanks Firesong for the awesome sig!

    Re: Age of War

Sorry for the sudden double post, but don't click on the link I gave you-don't worry, it's not innapropriate-it just leads to some complicated search site. Go to google and type in African names and their meanings. The correct link should be a couple of links down the list. Sorry for the confusion!

P.S. I'll continue the actual story tomarrow!

    Re: Age of War

Padfoot: Yup, I tried to test the link, but it took me to some weird search site thingiemabobberz.

Akwoof: Nope: I hven't read the book, or seen the movie, but I had heard of it. And to end any further space-ish confusion, I have seen all of the Starwars movies and Galaxy Quest ( Which iz oh so  funny).

Random: Yummy yummy nature vally bar yum!

Note: I'm changing the name of the Lighning Pride's leader from Zeus'hiro to Aza. Also, Chapter 1 was called Dull Days.

    Chapter 2: The Canyon Confrontation

The sun was very high in the sky when Aza and seven other Lighning Pride members arrived at Baobab hill, the border marker, about afew zebra-lengths away from the Canyon Entrance.Aza sniffed the air, and growled, " Indeed Shadow-walkers were here, and it smells as if they were here only a moment ago."  " But where are they now? " The alpha she-cat asked.

Just as she finished, angry barks and bristling spotted pelts came rushing out of the Canyon Entrance. The leader of the Clan of Light Shadows padded forward. " So, our patrol was right," she growled.    " Why were you on our territory?  There was no point in scrambling back on to your side of the border before we got here- were not stupid enough to miss your scent!"

" I could say the same thing about you, Shenzi," Replied Aza, his eyes hostile. " Our patrol cought your scent on our side of the border as well!" " What!? That's a complete lie! " Shenzi snarled back. One of the Lightning Pride sun-cats stepped forward, next to her leader. " Well are we just going to continue giving accusations, or are we going to fight?"

" No. We cannot fight them- they outnumber us." Aza said calmly to her, but his eyes showed his true anger about the border. There are eight of us-" Shenzi cut him off. " And nenteen of us!" sneered she. " You are no match for us."Aza gave a menacing growl. " Just stay off our lands. " And with that, he waved his tail, beckoning his Pride mates to follow him back home. " And you stay off ours!" Shenzi barked back as they went back home as well.

As the patrol headed for home, there was a sudden commotion. Neer a shrub, a bird squacked with terrified suprise and flew into the air. The shrubs were moving with commotion, and suddenly went still. As this happened about afew rino-lengths away, the sun-cats carried on, forgeting about it.

Ok, I'll post up more of chapter 2 later.

    Todaloo!
