A year had passed since the incident, and beautiful Mayella searched for a mate. She was now a healthy, yet somewhat skinny lynx. Her eyelashes had grown respectably since she was one, and now thick, dark black lashes accented her gray eyes.
Mayella knew her beauty could bring many mates, but she only wished for one- that one which had so swiftly been there, then was gone. The one who hadn't pushed her into it, who was ready to wait for her. The only lynx that she wanted as a husband was that handsome cat- JaxClaw.
She never saw him coming- suddenly the gian lynx was pouncing from the bushes, she all the while hissing, until she realized, "Jax!" She yelled, happily bounding towards him. She playfully knocked him over with her paw, and he rolled onto his back, bringing Mayella down with him.
"MayElla, darling, dear, how are you?" He said in a more manly voice.
"Why do you speak like this, now?" Mayella asked, rolling towards him, she shyly rested her paw on his shoulder.
"What, you don't like it, sweets? Aw, then, May, I'll stop... For you," He ruffled her mane of white fur between his massive claws. "Hey, sweet girl, hows life been?"
"Fine... winter was a little harsh. You realize the rabbit numbers declining at all? Humans were everywhere, this winter. I saw one little lynx get..." Mayella shuddered, and sighed, "You know, it got... you understand? I'm fine, though, really... Maybe I'm a little hungry, but not much."
"I know what you know, see what you see... 'cept I've felt more. Look, here," He said, nuzzling his side, "I swear, it hurt so much."
Mayella burst out, crying earnestly, "Oh, my JaxClaw, what have they done!" for, on his side, was a large gash of three inches, his fur was stained, and a little rusted gray could be seen, where the bullet had stuck. "They've poisoned you..."
"Nah, May, don't worry, sweet girl, it's not bad, really. It hurt at first, but now, not often-"
"But you could've died! If you hadn't of come, I wouldn't live with it, though, Jax!"
"I didn't, though."
"Jax! Listen here, JaxClaw, I am worried about you more than ever! Can you even think, that throughout the whole winter, I was worried that I may never see my soon-to-be mate again? Can you?"
"Darling, MayElla, I thought the same."
"So you took a chance!?" Before he had a chance to respond Mayella hugged him, and firmly stated, "Jax, to you I belong, I give myself to you- I love you, so please, don't do this to me... Please?"
JaxClaw sighed into Mayella's little frame, "Sweets, I love you too," and they trotted into the woods.

Stalking up behind the rabbit, Mayella flitted her little tail. She looked back to where JaxClaw was sitting a few moments ago, but he was gone. Aw, well, she thought, he just won't get to see my amazing hunting... an eruption of life suddenly exploded, as the few snow birds lurched through the air, terrified. The little rabbit bounded off, and Mayella was soon right on it's tail, quickening every second, until the snowshoe was in her mouth, white fur clothed in red.
She sighed deeply, and tore a hunk of meat, chewing slowly. JaxClaw jogged up behind her, "You gonna share with me?" He asked, and dipped his head to grab a peice of the tender meat. Mayella shrunk away into the trees, totally ignoring her mate.
A loud bang echoed through the sky, the flurry of snow birds that had finally settled back down into the surrounding trees, burst forth, crying in their sharp voices, "Chiiiiick--aaaa--deeeedeeedee!" or, "Chiiiiiiirup! Chiiiiiiiiiirup!"
The lynx, JaxClaw roared through the bush, forgetting his dinner, "MayElla! Darling! Where are you?!" He ran faster than ever, busting through bush and snow alike, but stopped, daringly close to a human... A human with a gun. Over the man's shoulder, a lynx dangled, dead, and JaxClaw let out a sharp cry, for the loss, the one that he adored, the pregnant lynx.
A paw reached through the underbrush, clawing his mane, and pulling him through to a little thicket. "Are you okay?" an airy little voice said. "Did you see that lynx? It was hit, like you, but the blow... fatal."
Confused JaxClaw whimpered like a kit, "Who are you?"
The other lynx laughed, heartily, "JaxClaw, did you not recognize me? I'm sorry, it is I, MayElla."
JaxClaw giggled a little, at his mistake. He peered through the bush, "They're gone," he said, simply, and squeezed through the bush to the opening. They trotted out to a snowy clearing, and cuddled whispering solemnly about the events of the day.
"Ummm, also, MayElla, I've been thinking, would you... change your two-half?" The changing of a two-half meant for a relationship when the two would meet up each year, they would not mate with any other lynx, ever.
Mayella sighed, it was time, "I must tell you the truth, JaxClaw... I... I... have no two-half. I lied to you, because I loved you, and knew I would be doomed without one... So, I cannot change my two-half, as I have none... My name... is Mayella, not May-two-half-Ella..."
JaxClaw lunged forward, and away from Mayella. He growled, "You lied to me?" in a sad, quiet way. He shook his head, "I knew you were too good to be true. Never shall a lynx mate with a no-half, they are nothing. Nothing. I should have known by her eyes." He chatted to himself, as he walked away, sadly.
"Nothing should have changed, Jax! I could just take your two-half! I would change my name to MayClaw, for you! or MayellaClaw! Jax? What about the kids, Jax, what will you name them!?"
JaxClaw turned around, yelling back, "My name is JaxClaw, to you! And lying is wrong! And my child, one of the children..." He stopped, "First born girl, is to be... Sorrow. Sorrow no-half. My boy, Judgement... no-half. The others are to you... Because of you, my children will be doomed also." He turned back, and sauntered off.
Mayella had enough time with JaxClaw, he grew in her heart, and she wished, oh she wished, to be MayClaw... but she couldn't. JaxClaw was gone. And the chances of seeing him again? Slim to none.
Mayella wept bitterly, all night. She wept everyday. She cried into the darkness, JaxClaw's name, until one day, a month later, four little darlings entered this world. The first, identical to JaxClaw, Judgement was born. Second, a boy, Flaw. Third, Sorrow. Fourth was a sweet girl, the image of love, yet the image of death, and heartbreak, Pity was born into this world.
Four new hearts to charm, and Mayella forgot of her recent heartbreak.
thank you all! I'll right more soon.

"Now, baby, you just... yes, that's right," Mayella whispered, "Yes, yes, now... on three. One. Two. Three." Mayella nudged Judgement forward. He leapt through the air, coming down with a loud thud.
"Ouch! Mama, that didn't work!" Mayella tried to keep a serious face, but couldn't help laughing at her son. So much like his father in so many ways, yet the clumsiest lynx she had met. She gave her three others the signal, and they darted out of the bush, tumbling over Judgement in a ball of beige and black fur, yelping and wiggling about.
"Alright, kids," Mayella pulled on of the lynx kits out of the pile. It was Flaw, who furiously pawed the air,
"Mama! Lemme down, I oughta fight 'em, Ma!" He barked, trying to wriggle out of her iron jaws. She dropped him, but quickly put herself between him and the others as a barrier.
"Kids, enough is enough," she said, trying to untangle the mass of bodies. The youngest one, a chocolatey brown one named Pity, turned towards her mother and lunged at her. The others followed her lead, and Mayella was covered in her lovely children, as they bit her ears, and cuddled in her luscious fur. She sighed, everything seemed right at the moment.
The kids, finally tired, settled down. Pity fell asleep on her mother's neck, stretched up to her head, little paws dangling in Mayella's face. Flaw climbed down from his mother's back, and, snugglind between her paws, closed his eyes immediately. The others, Sorrow adn Judgement, huddled by her side. The early spring wind dusted over the lynxes, and, shivering, the cubs slumbered quietly, as their mother watched the stars.
Everything is right, she thought, everything... slowly, the tears came, as she whimpered into the night, "Everything would be right if you were here. JaxClaw, I love you." She only hoped that the wind would carry this to his ears, and, indeed, it did.
JaxClaw clambered up to a high cliff, haunches pounding. His whole body was smarting, especially his head. As he tried making his way up, blood poured from his wounds. He fell, down from the cliff, into a delicate powder of melting snow. He searched his surroundings, and closed his eyes.
It would be better to die, he thought, images of the cougar flying through his mind. His eyes went blurry, and he closed them when he started seeing red. The red, seeping from his scarred forehead, stained the yellow grass and dirty snow. Then, a message on the wind sounded, but in his state of being, he only heard one part-
"-re here. JaxClaw, I love you."
The voice was earily familiar, an airy, light voice, the one that Mayella used in the brush when he thought she had been dead. The one she used before he left her.
Though she had no two-half, JaxClaw knew what he had to do.
He tried raising himself, slowly, and painfully, but barely made it off the ground. Poor, poor JaxClaw whimpered silently in his head. He only wished for Mayella to come save him. Or his Mother. Or the poor child that he, in his despair, had named Judgement. And Sorrow. Oh, so badly, he wanted to hear their voices, see them.
Suddenly, all went black. JaxClaw lay, still as the night that engulfed him. A raven circled above, once, twice, and dove upon the bleeding lynx. The lynx flinched when the raven touched him, but did no more.
Mayella was very confused when the cubs awoke. She had heard something last night, it sounded like her name, though the wind was blowing away from her. She allowed the kids to nurse, and stretch, but set out as quickly as possible.
She heard crashing in the bushes, turned, and saw a giant cat. She almost screamed, as the cougar swung towards her, when she realized, it was hanging, caught in a human-trap snare, from a tree. It's neck was slightly red where the tight string was hugging it. She passed on, covering her children's eyes, her own face reflecting the horror she felt.
Upon looking up, Mayella saw... three ravens, and a magpie. Scavengers, the lot of them. A horrible feeling erupted in her stomach, as she turned from her children, being sick all over the forest floor. Some unknown phenomenon pulled her to those birds, though she tried to resist, it urged her on. The kids, terrified of their mother's actioned, stuck close. They trembled, jumping every time they heard something.
Finally, the mother ran ahead. On the ground, a lynx lay in a puddle of dirty water and now-red grass. Though the lynx was impossible to recognize, Mayella knew. She groped over to her lost love, she held his head in her paws, she crabbed at the birds if the came near, she didn't even let her own children see him. She listened for breath, brought him water from a far away river. She attacked the magpie, holding it out for the lynx, her own stomach growling fiercely.
Days passed, three, to be exact. And that lynx, who the mother never gave up on once, breathed. Dazed, he looked into her eyes, "Mother?" he wheezed.
"No, my JaxClaw, Mayella."
"May... ella," he whispered, stunned. "You... love me, after what I did to you...?"
Mayella cried so loudly that her children trotted over to see what was wrong. Judgement looked at his own beige fur and gray spots, then towards JaxClaw. He seemed to be comparing, when he said, more of a statement than a question, "Papa.?"
One of the happiest moments of her life, Mayella knew. This one word broke the ice, as the cubs all rushed to meet their new-found father. He looked each one over, smiling, and tasting their names.
"Judgement... Sorrow... Flaw... Pity... shall have a two-half. They shan't be doomed. JudgeMent, you will be. JudgeClaw or JudementClaw are no-go," he said, laughing soberly, "SorrowClaw, FlawClaw," at the rhyme, he also laughed, "and PityClaw. My little ones are now mine."
For once, Mayella felt as a real family should.
But what of her two-half?
She is still,
Mayella
of
Lynx.
And her story is yet to be finished.
Stay tuned for more!

Thank you. :)
I'm sort of having an imagination breakdown at the moment, so bare with me as I work things out in my story.
