Haha, I'm not used to writing a new one each day. I've been punished for so long, I didn't even know where I'd left off. But I'm glad you like my stories, it's means alot to me.

                                                            Chapter 16

"Okay, are you ready to cooperate girl?" the man asked. "Only if you let me out of this place." I answered. "Alright, let's try this again." He said, gently securing the thing around my snout again. Only this time, I wasn't gonna fight back. When he secured it, he opened my cage and gently pulled me out. "That's a girl. Now come on, noone's gonna hurt you." He reassured. "Of course you're not. Cuz if you do, I'll rip your arm off." I snapped. Cautiously, he lead me up onto a table and tied the thing to a pole so I wouldn't run off. Howie watched me carefully through his cage. "Shira, don't fight. This thing that they're gonna put on you doesn't hurt at all. Just let them get it on you so we can get out of here." Howie whispered. "It's okay Howie. I know what I'm doing." I whispered back. "I hope so Shira." He said quietly. "Okay girl, I'm just gonna put this transmitter around your neck so we can keep an eye on you. And since your leg healed so quickly, I'm gonna let you and your friend back into the wild." the man said, as he started to place the transmitter around my neck. I didn't want to have this thing around my neck, but I didn't really have a choice. So after he finished adjusting it on my neck he had Marco get Howie and we walked outside. I breathed in the fresh air and smiled at Howie. He smiled back and looked up at Marco and the other guy. "Okay Marco, on the count of three we let them loose. One, two, three!" he yelled, taking the things off our snouts. We both dashed into the savannah, but as we were running, I couldn't help but look back. Two people, one I didn't know, and the other I used to hate. Maybe we are the same in a way. Just like us animals, people can change too. But now wasn't a time to think about that. Now was the time to track down Naomi and Tonori.

                                                                Chapter 17

When me and Howie finally reached a watering hole, we came to a stop and laid down. My leg was hurting me pretty badly, but the guy said it was okay. I wasn't sure where to start looking for my cubs now. They could be anywhere, even across the ocean, to that other world I had once lived in for a while. Unsure, I groaned and threw my head down on the dirt. Howie looked over at me and said, "Don't worry Shira. They can't be too far. Plus, we'll find them, I promised remember?" "Yea I know. But, who even knows what those poachers are planning to do to them. I'm there mother, I should've protected them better." I said sadly. "No, don't you start that. You know there was nothing you could do and fate has a way with dealing with things. Every animal and human on this planet know this. And we can't give up now. Noami and Tonori need us, and we have to believe that we can find them. Even if we get lost or sidetracked." Howie said, looking me in the eyes. I looked at him for a while and got up. "Even if we are able to find them, who ever said that they'll still even be alive? They could be dead of all we know." "How can you say that? You didn't die when you were taken away from your mother. So what makes you think that they'll die?" Howie argued. "Because Tonori was already in alot of pain when I last saw him in the village. He's not gonna make it Howie, he's not gonna make it..." I said, tears welling up in my eyes. I layed back down and watched as some gazelle chased each other around the savannah plains. "Shira, you don't know that. Tonori isn't like any other lion cub, he's a white lion cub. As a matter of fact, he's your cub. If I've learned anything about being around you and your pride, it's that I know your cubs are just like you. Smart, brave, strong, and determined. They'll make it through this." Howie reassured. "I hope so. But I'm not so sure if they'll be okay once we get them." I said. "They'll be fine. And we will find them, alive and well." I sat there, hoping Howie was right.

                                                         Chapter 18

As me and Howie laid there, I suddenly heard a strange roaring noise coming from the savannah. Howie, who was fast asleep now, only twitched his ear. I looked at how ridiculous he looked, laying on  his back with his tounge hanging out. With a smile, I got up and looked around. The acaica tree we were under began to blow earily. That's when I realized that a storm was coming. There isn't many storms here in the savannah, so it's a surprise that it's been storming lately. But if there was one thing I knew, it's to be as far away from trees as possible. So I walked over to Howie and nudged him with my paw. With a snort, Howie turned over on his stomach and looked drowsily up at me. "What?" He said, crankiness in his voice. "Come on, a storms coming in. It's best we move to a safer location." I said. Howie yawned and tilted his head to one side. "But, where can we go Shira? There isn't another resting place for a few go miles." "I don't know Howie. We just have to keep going until we find another place." I said, looking around eagerly. Something was different, but I couldn't explain it. "Okay. And Shira?" "Huh?" I said quickly. "Are you okay? You seem a little jumpy." He was right. Something was making me jumpy but I didn't know what. "Oh yeah, I'm fine." I lied. Howie gave me a skeptical look and slowly got up. "Don't you give me that look." I warned. "What? I don't have any idea of what your talkig about." He lied, in his teasing voice. "You know what I'm talking about." I said sharply. "Haha, are you okay? Did those docters give you a little too much meds?" He laughed. "No! Well maybe, but that's not what I'm talking about!" I snapped. He looked at me with his yellow eyes and said, "Well, let's get going then. We have a long ways to go before we find another village." "You can say that again." "We have a long ways to go before we find another village" Howie repeated. I thunked him on the head with my paw and said, "I didn't mean it literally!" "Ow...what was that for?" "For being a Howie." "What's that supposed to mean?" "Exactly." I laughed. "Dang, you hit hard!" He whined. "Oh stop your whining and come on." I said, running ahead of him. "Hey! Shira! Wait for me!" He yelled, chasing after me. "Come on you slowpoke!" I teased. "Haha! Who are you calling a slowpoke?" He laughed, starting to gain on me. "Y- ahhhhh!" I yelled, a rope caught on my back leg and I suddenly found myself hanging upside down from a tree. "Shira!" Howie yelled in surprise. "Quick! Howie! Cut the rope!" I yelled. "How?!" "I don't know! Somehow!" Howie looked around franticly, looking for something to get me down with. "Uhhh, how about I climb up there and chew through the rope?" "If you can!" "Okay!" He yelled, running up to me. But as soon as he stepped one paw in front of my trap, another sprung on him. Only this time, it was net. I watched as the net swooped him up next to me. "Aahh! What is this thing?!" He yelled, struggling in the net. "It's a poacher's trap. Perfect! Now they can take us to Noami and Tonori." I said, hoping that I was right. I could tell by the look on Howie's face that he was hoping too.

                                                          Chapter 19

As me and Howie hung from our traps ,for what seemed like hours, we suddenly heard another roaring noise. "What was that?" Howie asked, looking around. "I don't know. Hopefully it isn't the rain yet." I said. But for once, I was right. I watched as a large van pulled up to us. "It's them, they're here." Howie whispered. "Yup, now it's time to get my cubs back once and for all." I said, narrowing my eyes at the van. "Aahh, I see we've caught a big one!" I heard an excited voice yell. But as the shadowy figure emerged from the van, the man's expression on his face dramaticly changed. "It can't be..." "Wait a minute, Shira! That's the guy who took Tonori and Noami!" Howie whispered in surprise. "I know." I said quietly. "Hey, Nelson! Check this out." the poacher yelled. We watched as another man stepped out of the van. "Well, well, well. Lookie here, we caught ourselves yet another, white lion. Oh, and what's this? And it's little dog too." He laughed. I was determined to swing over and rip his head off, but I had to hold all of that off until Tonori and Noami were safe. Howie on the other hand, was actually growling. That's something I've never seen him do. "Oh, so we a have a tough guy do we? Would you like to know what happens to tough guys like you?" Nelson smirked. Howie stopped growling and watched him intently. "Exactly. Lucas!" "Uh, yes sir!" Lucas yelled. "Load these two up in the van. Were taking them back to the base." Nelson ordered, puffing on his cigar. I gave Howie a be-good-we-gotta-coorperate-with-them-look. Howie nodded in agreement and watched as Lucas cut the rope down from the tree. Lucas carefully dragged Howie's net into the van and all I heard was a clink of a steel cage closing. I was next, but I wasn't sure how this guy was going to get me into the van. "Ughh, I've told Nelson a million times. These stupid rope traps are to hard to maintain dangerous animals." Lucas mumbled to himself, as he carefully tied ropes around my snout and front legs. Okay, maybe he had a way after all. I thought to myself. I watched as he cut the rope that held me from the tree. THUNK! "Ow.." was all I managed to get out. Lucas heaved me over to the van and managed to shove me into a steel cage. I looked at Howie and smiled. Base must be where my cubs are at. We both watched as Lucas slammed the van door shut and started up the van. I slowly fell asleep to the rocking of the van as we drove off into the night...
