I laid on the hot sand, enjoying the warmth spread through me. I munched on a fat, juicey berry. It's juice was absolutely to die for. As I ate, I kept on a constant watch, keeping my eyes peeled and my large, radar-like ears alert. Anything could happen in the desert. Suddenly, something else instead of the warmth hit my furry belly. It was a light rumble, but was getting stronger by the minute. I was practically bouncing on the spot when I turned around. A stampede! I turned and scampered on my heels, my claws digging into the dirt. I took off just as my berry remains disapeared under a rush of hooves as addax seemed to almost chase me. I yelped as I stumbled and fell to the ground. I desperatly covered my head with my paws, but there was a sharp pain in my back leg as I felt an addax come justa little too close. As quick as it came, it was over. I absently wondered why this had happened. My question was soon answered. A hyena with long, black stripes running along his spine made a fantastic leap over me, then several of his packmates followed. They sauntered after the long-legged creatures infront of them. I finally let my paws fall from my head and raised it, looking after them. Thank goodness for my sandy fur, or I would have been mid-morning snack to those guys! Then I winced and glanced behind me, to check my leg. It didnt look bad, but when I tried to move, it was evident. I looked forward again. Strange. The hyenas didnt look like they had been hunting the addax. Maybe.. Maybe it was something else. I heard soft footsteps behind me and turned around, then gasped as something was shot into my haunches. Who were these bald things with their ugly squashed-in noses? But the longer I looked, the darker my world became, and I drifted off to sleep. I absently felt myself being picked up and slipped into something hard and cold, unlike my soft sand. But I didn't wake. I couldn't wake.
When I awoke, I was back on the sand. But it was strange. Then smells came rushing to me. I got up and stumbled slightly, then sat back down, inspecting my leg- Which was bandaged with something hard and rough, like a cat's toungue- , then inspecting my surroundings. I was in some kind of... Cage! I blinked my eyes blankly as two of the creatures stood infront of me. One was dressed in some strange loose skin that was tan and brown, with a strange rimmed thing atop his head, which seemed to have the only fur on his entire body. The other one looked like something from the desert that I had seen. They were growling something to each other, and pointing to me. I crawled away as fast as I could, but they realised I was awake. The one in the brown and tan extra skin picked me up gently. I opened my mouth to bite him with my sharp teeth, but then he did something to me. He ran long, strange, almost stick-like claws down my fur, but they weren't sharp. They were.... Soothing.

I had been here for three suns and two moons. Everything was strange here. There were more of my kind, but they were not like my home kind. They were empty, preferring to play with the chunks of frozen meat then hunt the few live lizards they gave us. But that was okay. I didn't want to talk to them, and they didn't want to talk to me. I lifted my head and pricked my ears. I was trying to get used to the gritty sand, not at all like the sand back home. It kept pokeing sharply into my soft belly. I finally stood up, my tail waving slightly. The keeper- as I had heard another fox call him- came in everyday to feed us. It was just about time. I padded up to the gate. It's locking mechanism was high up, as was the fence itself. I wasn't getting out unless that door opened. I looked up and had to squint, for the sun was just over the midday point. The keeper towered over me, and unlatched the gate, opened it. He had a devious way of keeping me away, however. I attacked every tiny opening he gave me. The other foxes poked their heads up to see what was going on. Finally, the keeper slammed the gate shut. I sat at it, horrified, my face pressed against it. I had to get out. Slowly-very slowly-, I was going insane. I wasn't used to these strange borders, and the air smelt like animal dung. I hung my head, not following the keeper as he fed us. I was ashamed. Had my ancestors been here, they would of found a way. I needed out. The cage around us was very hard and had a clear screen in the middle, so it was impossible for me to get out. Unless... I turned around, feeling my spirits soar. Yes, yes they did! There was a large rock- The creatures had made it, of course. The strange metal thing that exhaled heat at the back was constantly examined-right up against the side of the cage. No one used it, of course. Who would want to sun themselves while a bunch of ugly things pressed their flat noses up against the clear surface, watching your every move? We didn't. But I was about to use it. I checked behind me. The keeper was just leaving. I flipped my body to face the heated rock, backed up until my fluffy hind touched the cold wall, then took off running. Running like I'd never ran before. Then I used my powerful back legs to push off. I never stopped. I got up the rock easily then flew off. My paws skimmed the top of the cage, but I made it! I slammed into the rock-hard ground. I looked around. The ugly creatures stared at me. Then one of them opened their mouths and screamed. It was horrible, high-pitched and ringing. I ran again, even my hard pads filling with pain at the touch of this hard ground. I heard the familiar yell of my keeper, then others. I spared a glanced behind me. My keeper had a long thing hoised on his shoulder. Then he pulled the trigger and it fired something. I swerved. The dart bounced off the ground. I gasped. How dare he? I jumped again, landing on a wooden bench and jumping over the cage again. Only, this wasn't my cage. I glanced around. This place was lush and had a cool feeling around it. I was just about to find away out when I heard something. A low, menacing growl. I spun around. A pair of gleaming yellow eyes stared at me from the darkness. I backed up, the hair on the back of my neck rising. What was this thing? It padded out of the darkness, then I realised it was female. She was very heavyset, with huge paws and a long tail. Her fur was orange with dark stripes running along it. Never had I seen such a creature! She towered over me easily. She opened her mouth and I saw huge fangs. But then she spoke. I could make out some words. "My....... Tora..... Yours?" Her voice was low. I gulped. I guessed that was her name. Tora. I opened my mouth. "My name is Fenris!" I yelped, my tail curled between my legs. Tora made a noise. It took me a moment to realise she was laughing. Then she bent down and lifted me by the scruff. I whined as she carried me like a pup. Then she glanced behind herself before she melted into the darkness. The keepers were wandering around, looking for me. I exhaled with relief. They didn't know I here. But, how long was I to be safe? Was Tora taking me to save me, or taking me to... I gulped. Well, lets hope it's not the latter of the two.

I was almost lulled to sleep by the rythmatic movements of Tora's travels, when I snapped myself awake, realising that it wasn't safe here. Finally, she dropped me. I landed with a thud and yelped, but quickly took in my surroundings. It was some kind of gentle ditch in the ground, as if scooped out by some giant paw. Trees pressed right up against the edge. I felt oddly trapped. A huge rock den was right across from me. Inside another striped beast laid inside it. but this one was twice the size of Tora. I supposed he was male. Tora padded overtop of me and poked the beast gently. He awoke with a growl, and Tora turned to face me. "Fox..... Escaped. Wild." Was all I caught from her gravelly tones. The male stood up, and I realised how big he really was. He was at least two heads taller then Tora. He padded over to me. His paws were probably bigger then myself. I withered under his glare.Only, then I realised, he was different. His stripes were brown, and his fur was a snowey white. And instead of the piercing yellow Tora had, his were whethered and blue. He lowered his head to face me. His fur looked absolutely define. I would love to curl up and have a nap in it. "I hear your from the wild." He said. I was blown away. He spoke perfect fox! I nodded shakily. The beast reared his head back. "I am Sirag. This is Tora." Sirag said quietly. I nodded. "I... I think I knew that." Sirag nodded, then turned his blue eyes on Tora. He growled something in that unusual language, and she left. I took deep breath to calm myself. He turned back. "I am Sirag, King of the Tigers." I nodded. So they were tigers. Whatever those were. "Um, I... Am Fenris, of the... Er, Fennec Foxes." Sirag smiled, showing gleaming teeth. "Yes, I've heard of you foxes. So you do have big ears." I winced. That was worse then a blow. "Well, anyway. I heard you escaped. Well, how did you do it?" I was taken aback slightly. Well, what could he expect? "I, uh, used the sunning bed... It was close to the cage, so yeah..." I trailed off, uncertain if that was what he wanted. Apparently, it was. He closed his sunken eyes, breathing deeply. "Of course... Only, the keepers patrol us all the time. They must not of expected it form you little runts. But, maybe, a destraction...." As he fell into a deep thought, another tiger passed by. He was about the size of Tora, but male. He padded over to me, and felt his breath wash over me as he sniffed. "Nice snack. They're givin` us bigger things everyday." Sirag's eyes flashed open and he snarled, lashing forward. The tiger backed off immediatly. Out of no where, a keeper appeared, another one of those long things in his hand. Sirag sat down on his rump, squashing me. I gasped for a spare whisp of breath as he hid me. Finally, he stood up. I crawled out from under him, panting and wheezing as I got my breath back. "Stupid Ghost." I heard him growl, then he loked down at me. "Sorry. I forgot you aren't a tiger cub. they coulda handled that." He shifted his weight from paw to paw. "Now, as for destractions..."
My tail was tucked inbetween my legs as I prepared for my job. But I had to be brave. I looked at Tora. She summoned a breath. "Sorry." She growled. I smiled. "Don't worry about it." She nodded and turned to another tiger. She emitted a bellowing roar, and slashed at the tiger with wicked claws. The cat ducked and snarled back, poised for an attack. But I didn't waste my time with that. I hid myself quickly as the keepers came with their 'guns'-as Sirag called them-loaded up. I counted them. Five. Sirage said wait for six. Wait, what was that? I saw another tanned uniform come through the trees. Six. I gritted my teeth together, and took off running. In a flash, Sirag was running along with me. In about one stroke, he had outpaced me. For an old cat, he could sure take off. I tried to keep up with him, and before I knew it, we were back at ol` faithful rock. Sirag half-climbed, half-ran up the rock and pushed off it. I followed in suit. We slammed onto soft grass. We were out! And now, we were fugetives(SP?).

The first thing we did was get out of the vacinity of the 'zoo', as Sirag called it. This adventure was not only getting me in shape, but also improving my vocabulary. I followed Sirag for what seemed like hours. My paws ached by the time he stopped. The sun had long since set, but streaks of maroon still stained the sky, running through the glittering lights that were stars. Only, I found, there were not quite as many as there were back home.. I fell onto my chin, heaving out a long sigh. Sirag turned back and looked at me, one huge white paw in the air. He walked over to me. His face lowered till it was infront of me. Again, I felt the urge to curl up in his fur. He tilted his head. "Are you tired, Fox?" He growled. I felt suddenly hot in my ears. I forced myself up onto my paws, my legs shaking. "No.... Tiger." My weariness made me cocky and rude. He writhed his lips into a smile. "Good." He turned back and started again. I followed. The zoo was out of sight, and we were in another forest, but not quite like Sirag's. You could see the sky through the tree tops, and they weren't quite as,... well, wet-looking. Every paw step was agony. Just when the sun peeked over the horizon, sending the ever-faithful stars scurrying away to a darker spot of the sky, Sirag stopped suddenly and glanced around, then turned to me again. "Okay Fox, we can rest here." Again, I was snappy to reply. "My name is Fenris!" Then and fell to the ground, curling my agonized paws under me. I blinked open one eye and watched Sirag also curled up, placing a paw on his pink nose and sihging, fluttering his eyes closed.
I had been sure I would sleep heavily, but to no avail. My dreams were stalked with nightmares, causing me to thrash and often awake Sirag, which, I supposed, didn't make his night any easier, either. I finally got a few hours sleep, then my companion awoke me. "Come on. We've got ways to go." He prodded me harder. "Lets go, Fox." I shook myself awake and scrambled onto my paws, standing at attention. Sirag nodded and turned to go. "Uh, where are we going?" I asked him curiously. Sirag waited a while to answer. "I'm taking you back home, then I'm finding my way home." I looked at him, a little worried. I didn't even know where the desert was! How did he? I decided it was better not to ask. But it was impossible with a mind-reading tiger. "I used to be in a circus. I was taken from my mother when I was a cub because of my pelt. They stuck my in a dirty cage and made me do tricks. Then, finally, someone thought it would be better if I retired or something, and stuck me in there instead. But I tell you, there's nothing like the wind blowing through your fur, the fresh dirt between your claws..." He shot his claws out, in his own world. I didn't bother to mention I didn't know what a circus was. I just hoped I would never get caught in one. I looked him up and down. "Yes... You do have a pretty pelt." Sirag nodded absently. "Well, I hope no other tiger is cursed with such a gift." I flicked my ears back and forth. I wasn't sure if he could use 'curse' and 'gift' in the same sentence, but that was up to him, wasn't it? We padded on in silence. Then, we came to another hard ground. This was smelled even worse then the zoo, and had the ever-faint rumble of many moons of monsters passing by. Sirag held me back. "Be careful. The cars come fast. You're squashed if you get caught." He glanced back and forth, then flew across. I shrugged. Looked easy. I don't know why he was so freaked out. I started across, when Sirag roared to me. I snapped my head to my side as blearing lights shot into my eyes. I froze, my muscles tensed, and I couldn't move. Suddenly, Sirag jumped and pulled my back by my scruff, just as the monster passed. The air it brought with it was absolutely disgusting with black smoke billowing out with it. Sirag dropped me, growling. I gulped. "I told you." He said quietly, then huffed. "But, you're safe now. Let's go." I nodded, and took one more look back at the road, then hurried after Sirag. But, then another problem buzzed int our minds. Sirag's mid-section let out a roar of it's own. We were hungry.

I felt my vision blur at the corners once more. Hunger nawed at my belly, sending a sting of pain through my each and every nerve. I felt weaker then before. It had been two sun ups since we had passed the Monster path. My ribs were beginning to show, and I was feeling my stomach shrink. Everytime I glanced up at Sirag, I had to look back down. I knew he was feeling it ten times worse, for he was much bigger, and older. I followed in his pawsteps, though. I knew if he could keep going, I could. Only when I saw his steady paws stumble did I panic.
I came up beside him. "Sirag? Are... Are you okay?" I asked hesitantly. He heaved out a sigh, and I saw huge bags under his beautiful eyes. His fur was dull and his tail was low. I grimaced worriedly. "P`rehaps, you should rest and, and I could catch something.." I was careful to choose my words. I expected a rebellion. I got it. "No!" He snapped, and kept on going. I followed him obediently. We carried on for a few more hours. Then, Sirag stumbled, heavier this time. His white chin went into the ground. I yelped and rushed forward, expecting him to get back up and scoff. But nothing happened. He stayed still, the only way I knew he was alive was the occasional movement of his back, rising and falling. I walked backwards, horrified. I had to find something! I dashed away into the denser parts of the forest. I never should have left him, as I think back. But all I could think about was fidning food for my desperate friend.
I padded back to where I had left Sirag, a furry rabbit in my jaws. The rabbits here were lazy and plump, not like the ones back home, with their huge legs and attentive ears. I was careful to find Sirag again. Then, my heart stopped. He wasn't there. I dropped the rabbit and rushed forward, sniffing. Maybe this was the wrong spot! I paniced when I kenw it wasn't. Not only was Sirag's scent here, but a different one as well. Humans! I screamed in frustration, against all my urges to keep quiet and hidden. I dashed after the scent, blood roaring furiously in my ears. I had to find Sirag. I had to! No flat-face was going to get my friend.
SNEAK PEEK
My paws hit furiously against the Monster path. The vans infront of me easily outpaced my tiny sprints. The tarp overtop of the van I was concentrated on flapped over an opening, which a weak and aggitated roaring came from. "Sirag!" I weakly called back, then stumbled and fell. I heard a shriek, then the constant roar of the vans stopped. Same as my heart.

I woke up groggily, pain beggining to rush back. I groaned and rolled onto my back. All my joints ached, especially my paws. I took in my surroundings. It was dark and damp, but I was... moving! I bumped up and down and leaped onto my paws, finding out just how confined I was. The cage was very tiny. I saw a speck of light and turned towards it, licking my maw curiously. The smell coming from it was enticing. It lured me foreward and I snapped as soon as a chunk of meat came through, gobbling it up. It made me feel a little better. I sat down and felt like I was in Tora's grasp again, being rushed through the forest. But I shook it off. I had to concentrate and get away. I peeked out through the hole, trying to see. "Sirag?" I yelped, desperate. Nothing. A flat-face banged the door and I scrambled back. Where were we going? I bumped again. Well, no use doing anything till we stop, I suppose. I walked to the furthest corner and curled up, wrapping my tail around my sore paws. Maybe thing would be better then. I could find Sirag.
((Sorry it's short. I'm really busy))

A bright, sharp light flooded my tiny, cramped cage. I awoke groggily, blinking the sleep out of my eyes. Before I even had time to stand up, I was scooped up by the scruff and carried off. The flat-face entered a large dome-like thing, with a large ring in the middle and seats surrounding it. The flat-face took me to the ring and dropped me off. I landed wth a thump and whined, laying my ears flat. Then, disturbing giggles echoed around the dome. I jumped up, turning and twisting to find the source of the noise. Strange little flat-faces came out of the shadows. But they weren't flat-faces at all. They were furry with slight snouts, and a long tail. They bared their teeth in more ferocious giggles, surrounding me. I snarled and arched my back. "Stay away from me!" I growled warningly. The biggest, scruffiest one stepped forward. "Sos yous guys are from deh wild, huh?" He said with a strange, lazy accent. I gulped and nodded warily. The thing smiled and laughed again. "Hey, hey, don;t be afraid or nuttin! We aint gonna hurt`cha!" He smoothed his filthy, bug-covered fur once. "Look, I'm Jacko the monkey. And this is Paco, Taco, Maco, Daco-" Each 'monkey' swept into a bow when his name was called. Then, he finnished with the last, relatively clean monkey. "and this is Fillis." He finnished, motioing witrh his long arms. I nodded slowly. "Do, uh, any of you know where a white tiger is?" I asked carefully. The monkeys laughed again. Jacko recovered the quickestg and answered. "White tiger? There aint no white tigahs `ere. Only the plain orange ones!" He howled with laughter as a heavy door opened. I whipped around to face it as tigers and lions came spilling out. I yelped and covered my head with my paw. Horses followed the big cats, then dancing bears. I watched them perform. They were doing some sort of routine! I was horrified and mesmerized at the same time. I looked desperatly for Sirag, but he was nowhere to be found. I set my eyes on the open door, where and aggitated roaring was coming from. That was where I was headed. I pushed through who I thought I remembered was Daco and Paco, heading for the doors. I stopped carefully whenever a prancing horse crossed my path. I had to find my way around. I finally got to the door way, and turned back to look at the monkey circle. Jacko stood up on strong back legs, grinning his wild grin as flat-faces came after me, strang, whip-like things at the ready, lahsing in the air. He waved a paw in the air and howled after me as I turned around and booked it.
"Welcome to dah circus, Scout!"
