    Peacocks Running Free

I have a zoo(dinosaurs are pretty much the only animals) with a Jeep tour.I decided to do some expirementing and put 1 peacock and 2 peahens in the only non-exhibit area.
I expected for the ,"Peacock 1 is not contained" message to pop up, but it didn`t.So I
put in some more. This was a rainforest map, but they didn`t care. But eventually, their
needs got the better of them.So I had to put some enrichment objects, water dishes and
food. They got so happy, one even layed an egg!

    Re: Peacocks Running Free

You know, the Indianapolis Zoo in Indiana has tons of peacocks and peahens just wandering around the zoo. Totally cool to know that you can reproduce that in the game, but man I hate the thought of having to go all through the zoo to pick up the poop. Those things can sure make a mess. If only they could be potty trained.

I did the peafowl thing once while trying to immitate the Denver zoo. It works well on temperate forest zoos too.

Yes it works but in my zoo all the guests kept screaming and saying "Help! Common peafowl so and so is chasing me!"
Hello whoever still comes here from the forums, does anyone know the (new) refugee site url? Please tell me by putting it in your bio. I am lost!

    Re: Peacocks Running Free

I have noticed that the guests don't donate towards the peafowl when they are not contained.

Thanks Firesong for the awesome sig!

Most zoos have 'free range' peacocks and peahens

    Re: Peacocks Running Free

i've done that in every zoo of mine. no one seems to care that they are out.... they'll walk right past them and some will stop to look...... and i've had about 12 lay eggs. even if they are in a "cage" they will still fly out of it and find somewhere else to go (that's why i stopped putting them in a "cage") and be careful....... inside or out...... they WILL fly away from the zoo. you may not even see a message..... when you go to count how many you have...... you'll find 2 or 3 have gone.

outside of the game...... the Norfolk Zoo has peafowl running around all the time. it's fun watching the kids running around trying to touch them LOL. when i lived in MD...... we had them at the church i went to. they would walk around the grounds and wait for church to be let out and beg us for food.

I tried this but all my guests went screaming that peafowl 1 was chasing them.  I guess my peafowl are just mean.

Wow, I've never heard of doing that before. o.o  I oughta try it sometime.  The notion doesn't surprise me really, as I've seen peafowl running around the petting zoo I used to visit as a kid.  They must be good animals for guests to see that aren't in cages. x3

    Re: Peacocks Running Free

Some of my animals are afraid of the giant ambiants!  It was really funny to watch a camel run away from a bullfrog 1/3 the size of it...  My guests don't like having animals outside the exhibit.

Guests don't run away from peafowl unless you get EA.
