Okay, here's my next story. Hope you enjoy!

 

Chapter 1:

It was dark. The darkness was like a living thing, almost tangible. It seemed to seep from the very walls of the cave itself, curling around Skystar as her eyes gradually became accustomed to the dim light.

"Welcome," said a voice that sounded as if it was really a thousand voices.

"Who are you?" whispered the silver cat.

"We are one who is many, the many who are one." replied the voice.

"Am I dreaming?" Skystar wondered.

"Yes. But this is as real as your waking world, for we have called you here. There is much to discuss."

A ball of light formed in the center of the cave, and then coalesced into the shimmering form of another cat, its eyes glowing gold and light streaming from it like the rays of the sun.

"A cat shall come. They shall revive the old ways and help your race become what you all once were. Cats will become honerable creatures again, and revive the old code. The Star-cat will save you all."

The light-cat gradually faded away.

"Wait!" called Skystar. "Why have you brought me here!?"

There was no answer. But the cave grew even dimmer than before, if it was possible, and the darkness seemed to pull Skystar down with it.

The voice rang in her mind one last time. "Beware. There is also a dark cat coming. You must stop them and let the Star-cat complete their mission. Otherwise, doom will come to you all."

Thanks everybody! Here's the next chapter:

 

Chapter 2:

Skystar awoke with a jolt. Had that been real? She didn't know for sure.

Rockpelt, a dark gray tomcat, walked over to her.

"About time you were awake," he meowed gruffly, "it's time to get moving. We enter the caverns today."

Skystar leaped up. She had almost forgotten! Today their small group of cats was going to enter the caverns of the FireMountains, where they hoped to find a new home. They had been driven out by the NightEmpire, cats who now controlled most of the mainland. But they had not yet reached out their claws of control to the FireMountains.

Skystar traveled with only three others; Rockpelt, Brightsoul, and Shadowfire. They had been searching for moons, looking for somewhere free of the NightEmpire's control. And now, they would enter the caverns.

Suddenly a yowl came out from a lookout rock. "The NightEmpire! They've found us!" called Brightsoul, a tortoiseshell she-cat with white paws.

"Into the caverns!" yowled Rockpelt, and the four cats dashed toward the entrance. Shadowfire, a black cat with strange, bright blue markings on her fur, easily overtook the others. She quikly led them into the caverns.

"Maybe they won't find us," whispered Skystar. Shadowfire was one of her closest friends, and now they crouched next to each other, trying to avoid the enemy. Without warning, the ground trembled. All four cats leaped up.

"What was that?!!" meowed Brightsoul.

Suddenly it trembled again, but much more so, and it didn't stop. A rock crashed down, blocking the enterance. In unspoken agreement, the cats dashed deeper into the cavern. Rocks fell everywhere, and Skystar heard somecat screech. She dodged a rock as big as herself, leaping out of the way.

"Shadowfire!" she called. "Brightsoul! Rockpelt! Shadowfire!"

As the rockfall subsided, Skystar realized she was seperated from the others by a huge wall of solid rock.

Chapter 3:

 

Shadowfire slowly stood, dislodging the rocks around her.

"Skystar? Rockpelt? Brightsoul?" she called, her voice hoarse with the harsh dust from the rockfall.

"I'm here," answered Brightsoul, scrambling away from a huge boulder. "Where are the others?"

"I don't know. For all we know, they're on the other side of all that rock."

Suddenly a low growl came from near a large rock. "Shadowfire? I'm over here."

Shadowfire and Brightsoul scrambled to where Rockpelt sat on the other side of a boulder, licking a cut on his paw.

"Are you alright?" asked Shadowfire.

"I'm fine." Rockpelt flexed his paw experimentally. He stood, careful to put as little weight on the paw as possible. "Where's Skystar?"

"We don't know. She could be almost anywhere-" Brightsoul was cut off as a huge crash was heard, followed by many pawsteps.

"The NightEmpire!" hissed Rockpelt. Shadowfire's fur stood on end.

A huge, lithe tomcat apperaed at the bend of the tunnel, followed by seven fierce warriors.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" The black cat stood and walked toward the small dishevled group. Shadowfire gasped sharply as he revealed a bright red flame pattern on the fur of his back legs. This must be Flameclaw, the most dreaded fighter she had ever heard of. He alone would have had no problem beating them, never mind his guards, all of whom had fur that bore strange symbols and markings of various colors. She twitched her tail nervously, thinking how she must appear with her own bright blue stripes and the spirals near her eyes.

"As enemies of the NightEmpire, you are hereby taken prisoner under authorization of  Emperor Nightstreak." Flameclaw and his warriors moved to encircle them. Suddenly Rockpelt leaped for the nearest warrior. Shadowfire followed him, attacking a gray cat with deep black paws and a strange black symbol on his forehead. She could hear Brightsoul behind her as well. It was hopeless, but they had to try.

 

Sorry, this is a long chapter and I need to stop now to do homework. I'll type more later.

chapter 3 continued:

Shadowfire yowled as the gray cat twisted to avoid her attack and lashed out with his claws, scoring the thorn-sharp points across her muzzle. Spinning around, she swiped his paws out from under him and pounced on top before he could get his balance back. Looking around she saw Rockpelt and Brightsoul backed into a corner by all the rest of the warriors. Except for Flameclaw....

And during a moment of hesitation as to what she should do, she was slammed from behind and pinned to the ground. A jet-black face loomed over her. Flameclaw! Suddenly his eyes narrowed, and changed from orange to red. She tried to lash out with her claws but her paws wouldn't move. She couldn't turn away, paralyzed, as those eyes slowly lowered, as his paw reached out with unsheathed claws to come crashing down--

No, said something in her mind. You are not under his control. Shadowfire's eyes narrowed too, glowing bright blue. She thrust upwards, sending him tumbling off of her. His eyes lost their red color and widened in shock. Shadowfire's eyes dimmed too, going back to a normal blue.

"Who are you..." Flameclaw whispered.

Shadowfire was stunned to. How did I do that? she wondered. Looking around for her companions, she saw them trapped between Flameclaw's warriors. Her gaze flitted back to him.

Flameclaw quickly regained his composure.

"You are a strong fighter. I can teach you to control your power. Come with us willingly, and you can be one of us, once you get more training. You can be very powerful. Join us, and you can learn how to be the most powerful cat in the whole empire," he offered.

Shadowfire had to admit that sounded promising. But wait a second, this was the enemy!

"What about them?" she asked, flicking her tail at her two friends.

"If you join us, they will be set free once we get back to the empire.

Shadowfire knew she had to do it, if not for herself than for her friends.

"Alright," she whispered. "I will come with you."

Chapter 4. (at least I think it's chapter four...)

 

Skystar was exhausted. She had tried moving the boulders, climbing them, anything to get to the other side. She only had one choice left: go farther into the caverns. Scrambling to her feet she started down the rocky passageway. She needed water, soon. Mindlessly she just kept moving, not letting herself rest for fear of not being able to get back up again.

Suddenly her ears pricked, hearing the unmistakable sound of running water. She stepped into a cavern, the strange light of glowing blue moss everywhere. She had never seen anything like it before. In the center of the cavern was a pool of water, fed by a tiny waterfall spilling out of a crack in the rock. She ran with her last burst of energy to the pool, where she drank all of the clear water that she could. She curled up beside the water, and slept.

 

Suddenly Skystar was in the dark cave once more, with the golden cat in front of her.

"This is all your fault, isn't it?" she accused the glowing cat.

"Your path is different from theirs. You have a unique destiny." said the cat, its voice once again sounding as if many were speaking.

"What am I supposed to do? I'm trapped here!!"

"You are closer than you think. Find the place where the moon shines on stone like a flame. There you must defeat the Night-cat, and let the Star-cat comeplete their mission, or all will be lost."

"Wait!" she called, but then the cave faded to black once more.
