There are loads of posts from people needing help with the 5 Star Endangered Species Zoo, including a few from me in the past, and some of the replies you get are useful but most are still from people who are still stuck on this pretty hard scenario. So, I though, having played this scenario time and time again, that I would post my own game for you to follow (if you like) and hopefully you will find the scenario a little easier to WIN!
We start off with $35,000.00. Firstly I 'Desert' the whole of the zoo. This makes the vegetation stand out better, and also I like to use the Desert themed buildings because they look cool!! DELETE all the vegetation in the zoo - trees and all. Once you have done this you should have $42,532.00 in your funds - and for those of you who like to be thorough - the zoo size is 72 squares by 72 squares! I also flattened the whole zoo area for easier exhibit and Jeep safari construction.
At this point in the game SAVE. because it takes time doing the above and if you're not happy with the zoo layout when you start to build you can always load up the saved game and start again without having to delete and lose your precious funds!!! (So saving saves lots of time and money!) Don't bother hiring a Zoo Keeper AT ALL throughout this Scenario - you don't need one!
I build a Jeep safari track running through Savannah, Desert, Wetlands, Boreal Forest, Tropical and Tundra. I bought 2 Beluga, 2 Gazelle, 2 Camels, 2 African Buffalo, 2 Moose (all costing $1250 each) and 2 Musk Ox ($1500). Bought hotdog stand, 2 restrooms, 3 bins, soda, 2 picnic benches which left me with over $5,400.00. Game went up to 1 Star and the Buffalo was pregnant!
FEBRUARY YEAR 1 - Most of the animals are pregnant. Bought 1 maintenance worker. Zoo went up to 1½ stars. Bought 2 Bairds Tapir ($3,000 each) and 2 Bongos. Zoo went up to 2 Stars.
MARCH YEAR 1 - Remainder of the animals are pregnant.
APRIL YEAR 1 - Released the Musk Ox offspring into the wild. 2½ Stars.
MAY YEAR 1 - An anonymous donation of a Green Sea Turtle appears - on the condition that you raise $300 in guest donations for it - easy! Release Affrican buffalo into the wild. Bought a Green Sea Turtle to mate with #1. Bought 2 Galapogas Tortoise ($3,000 each). 3 Stars.
JUNE YEAR 1 - Release Musk Ox #4 into the wild and Gazelle #4 into the wild. 3½ Stars.
JULY YEAR 1 - Still 3½ Stars.
AUGUST YEAR 1 - I received an anonymous $10,000 donation! and $2000 for raising $300 donations for the GS Turtle. Bought 2 Scimitar Horned Oryx ($2000 each) and 2 Black Rhino ($10,000 each). Zoo fame went up to 4 Stars.
SEPTEMBER YEAR 1 - Received a donation of a Giant Sable Antelope, bought another Giant Sable Antelope ($5,500). 4 Stars.
OCTOBER YEAR 1 - Released ALL Beluga into the wild. Bought 2 Przewalskis Horse ($10,000 each). Received an anonymous donation of $20,000! 4 Stars
NOVEMBER YEAR 1 - Released ALL Bongos into the wild. Bought 2 Bengal Tigers ($15,000 each).
DECEMBER YEAR 1 - Bought 2 Markhor ($5,500 each). Released ALL Musk Ox into the wild. 4 Stars.
JANUARY YEAR 2 - 4 Stars
FEBRUARY YEAR 2 - Bought 1 Asian Elephant ($15,000). Released all Camels into the wild. 4 Stars.
MARCH YEAR 2 - 4 Stars
APRIL YEAR 2 - Released ALL Moose into the wild, and replaced them with 1 Grizzly Bear ($15,000). I have only ENDANGERED ANIMALS LEFT IN THE ZOO.... Tapir, Green Sea Turtle, Galapagos Tortoise, Oryx, Black Rhino, Antelope, Horse, Tigers, Markhor and Asian Elephant. That is 11 different Endangered Species - but I know, to win this scenario you need AT LEAST 15 DIFFERENT ENDANGERED SPECIES, so now you can forget completely about making guests happy and use every penny you get on animals.
MAY YEAR 2 - Bought 2 Sea Otters ($7,500). (12th species)
JUNE YEAR 2 - 4½ Stars
JULY YEAR 2 - 4½ Stars
AUGUST YEAR 2 - Bought 1 Javan Rhino ($15,000). (13th species) 4½ Stars.
SEPTEMBER YEAR 2 - Bought 1 African Wild Dog ($15,000). (14th species). 4½ Stars.
OCTOBER YEAR 2 - Bought 1 Crested Gibbon ($20,000). Stars 4½
NOVEMBER 1st YEAR 2 - WON THE SCENARIO.
