I think a good idea would be that you can trade animals that are worth the same amount so instead of paying $1,250 for a thomson's gazelle you could trade in a beluga that you have bred. This would be especially good if you had a group of animals that had babies like mice and you were sick of releasing them.

i think a good expansion pack would be mysterious animals, not mythical cos' they totally suck. But this one would have kind of elusive animals, like the clouded leopard. and because they aren't really studied in the wild you could build a research station to find stuff out about their behavior
